We have expert betting tips for the cards this Monday at Bathurst and Lismore.
There is plenty of value available with bookmakers at the Monday meetings and we have our best bets across the two cards.
Monday horse racing tips
Race 1. (13:25) Hotham’s Sand & Soil Maiden (1200m)
#4 – Soloist @ $1.85 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Soloist did enough when second on debut at Forbes to suggest he won’t take long to break maiden grades.
The three-year-old gelding was only a length behind the winner as a $3 chance, so we’re not surprised his odds have firmed for this contest.
Barrier one is ideal, and he could get the day off to a winning start.
Race 3. (14:45) Pearce Furniture & Bedding Maiden (1400m)
#12 – Surreel @ $2.05 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Surreel is a Bjorn Baker-trained three-year-old that is getting close to a win. The daughter of Not a Single Doubt ran third at Goulburn last start and that’s a good betting guide.
She sat close to the speed and battled away gamely, so rising in distance is ideal and she should find this level of racing easier.
55kg helps and we’re not shocked by the odds available.
Race 4. (15:20) Bathurst Glass & Windows C1 (1400m)
#5 – Ita @ $2.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ita has finished in the first two in five of her seven starts, and she looks set for victory after running second at Goulburn last start.
The daughter of All Too Hard handled the heavy conditions well, and the slight improvement to a soft track only helps her chances.
Barrier eight helps and she’s another Baker-trained runner with upside.
Race 6. (16:35) Erin’s Outdoor Power C3 (1100m)
#2 – Rebukes @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The six-year-old mare didn’t fire at Cowra last start, but we’re prepared to give her another chance.
She owns three wins from 15 starts, so the ability to win races is there, and the new environment and stable could help.
The early betting support is there, which is a good sign.
Race 1. (13:10) Lismoreturfclub C1 (2100m)
#7 – Taaffeite – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Matthew Dunn-trained four-year-old scored a win at Ipswich two back and followed it up with a third placing at Gold Coast.
She is a well-bred daughter of Tavistock, who was only 1.2 lengths behind the winner last start and that should be a good form guide.
Look for a betting push on race day.
Race 2. (13:45) Lismore Toyota Maiden (1100m)
#6 – Angama – Bet @ Sportsbet
Angama ran well when third at Casino last start and it shouldn’t take her much longer to exit maiden grades.
The four-year-old owns three placings from 12 starts, and she has faced some tough maiden fields throughout her career.
Punters will get value odds.
Race 4. (15:05) Tab Odds and Evens C3 Handicap (1100m)
#2 – Lasting Kiss – Bet @ Sportsbet
Lasting Kiss is the form runner of the field with three wins and three second placings from six starts.
The consistent four-year-old daughter of Real Impact is shooting for three consecutive wins after winning at Grafton and Doomben, so the form checks out.
She will be heavily supported with bookmakers on race day, and we would be surprised if she didn’t go close.
Race 6. (16:15) Lismore Cup Thursday BM58 (1516m)
#1 – Magic Charles – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Owen Glue-trained gelding is having his first start at Tamworth and it’s a track that should suit.
He is a four-time winner, including a last-start win at Casino by 2.5 lengths. That was an impressive effort, and it bodes well for this season.
2kg comes off his back and punters should get each-way odds on race day.
