Monday horse racing tips

Echuca

Race 1. (13:00) Bet365 Maiden Plate (1209m)

#9 – Maybe the Best @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Maybe the Best could live up to her name by winning on debut. The three-year-old filly by I Am Invincible hasn’t been seen at the trials, so betting is the best guide.

She opened at $2.90 and has been smashed in betting, which is a terrific sign for her debut effort.

It could pay to watch further betting moves.

Race 3. (14:00) Echuca Moama Print Maiden (2124m)

#12 – Uniquely @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Uniquely is getting close to a win after posting consecutive placings and she looks ready to break through.

The Dan O’Sullivan-trained filly finished second at Stawell before running third at Ballarat, which was a tidy maiden contest.

Punters get value odds and they’re worth taking.

Race 5. (15:00) Two Tarts Catering BM58 (1009m)

#1 – The Running Man @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Running Man comes off two wins from his last three starts and there is plenty to like about that form.

He scored at Bairnsdale before getting back to his best form at Echuca last start. He is unbeaten from two starts here and with all four wins coming over this distance, he looks the horse to beat.

Barrier two is ideal and although he carries a big weight, it shouldn’t matter much over this distance.

Race 6. (15:30) Perricoota Station BM64 (1109m)

#7 – Kerioth @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Kerioth didn’t fire on debut at Kyneton but he hit back impressively when winning at Werribee last time out.

The three-year-old gelding scored at short odds over Wild Rover and punters get much longer odds this time around.

Barrier 10 could make it tricky, but he gets a claimer in the saddle and we’re expecting a top effort.

Quirindi

Race 2. (13:40) Browning Motors Maiden (1100m)

#4 – Mind Game @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Mind Game runs on debut after winning a trial at Muswellbrook by a length. He is a four-year-old, so he has been given plenty of time to mature.

The speedy son of Rubick looks ready to fire on debut and getting the inside draw over this distance is ideal.

Punters get each-way odds and they’re worth taking.

Race 3. (14:20) John Deere Maiden Handicap (1600m)

#1 – Croesus @ $2.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet

It has been a tough watch for backers of Croesus, but he could live up to expectations and score his breakthrough win.

The three-year-old son of Panzer Division looked set to win at Gunnedah last start but had to settle for another second placing.

He finished off strongly and being on the quick back-up should help.

Race 4. (14:55) John Deere BM58 (2000m)

#3 – Frankly Savvy @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Value is with Frankly Savvy, which comes off a win and it came impressively by two lengths.

The William Freedman-trained four-year-old is a two-time winner from five starts and the 1.5kg claim brings her right into contention.

We’re surprised she’s not the favourite, but money is coming.

Race 6. (16:10) Willow Tree Cup June BM58 (1100m)

#3 – Farmer’s Friend @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Farmer’s Friend has had eight starts for two wins and three placings, so he’s rarely too far off the pace.

The four-year-old son of Zoffany comes off consecutive third placings and although yet to race at Quirindi, it’s a track that should suit.

Most of the early money has come for Farmer’s Friend and he could start as the odds-on pop.
