Moonee Valley free tips & form
Race 1. (12:20) Paramount Liquor BM78 (1600m)
#1 – Shot of Irish – Bet Now
That was an impressive performance from Shot of Irish to finish third behind Age of Chivalry last Saturday at Caulfield.
The five-year-old is from the improving Scott Brunton stable and has won six and placed in six from his 17 starts.
Consistency is key at this level and he looks a good hope in the first.
Race 2. (12:55) Sweeney Estate Agents BM78 (2500m)
#2 – More Than Ever – Bet Now
More Than Ever defied a big betting drift when winning here last start and that form should stack up nicely.
The Tony McEvoy-trained five-year-old has rattled off three consecutive wins and scoring a 2.3-length win last start should see him be competitive at this level.
Carries a big weight but gets some relief with Jamie Kah in the saddle and every little bit helps.
Race 3. (13:30) Palentino 1st Crop Handicap (1200m)
#1 – La Tene – Bet Now
La Tene has shown good consistency to date with two wins and three placings from six career starts.
The James Cummings-trained three-year-old was good enough to win at Flemington during the autumn and anything close to that form sees her winning this.
She’s a talented filly and despite this being a hot field, she could handle it.
Race 4. (14:05) Dr Sheahan BM84 (1200m)
#9 – Fabric – Bet Now
There’s not much between the majority of this field and Fabric could offer punters with a solid each-way result.
The Danny O’Brien-trained four-year-old has been around the mark throughout this campaign, which includes two wins. Her most recent win came at Flemington in May and she has been close since.
Gets in with only 54kg on her back and Craig Williams takes the ride from barrier three.
Race 5. (14:45) Carlyon Stakes (1000m)
#5 – Spirit of Valor @ $3.60 – Bet Now
Money has come in the early markets for Spirit of Valor and it’s not hard to see why.
Assertive Approach has the best at first glance but Spirit of Valor has been competing against the likes of Brave Smash and Santa Ana Lane at Group 1 level.
This is some drop in class and although the six-year-old hasn’t raced since November, he has class written all over him.
Could start the favourite with more support.
Race 6. (15:25) Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap (1519m)
#3 – Vinland – Bet Now
Vinland was super impressive when winning at Flemington on a heavy track last start and we’ll stick with him here.
The Tony McEvoy-trained son of Sebring has experience on this track, which is always good and getting the inside draw is another positive.
He’s a six-time winner from 20 starts which handles all track conditions so any poor weather won’t be an issue.
Race 7. (16:05) McKenzie Stakes (1200m)
#9 – Deep Force @ $9 – Bet Now
Deep Force was disappointing at Murray Bridge last start but trainer Tony McEvoy believes he’s right to go for this.
Prior to that he scored a debut win at Morphettville by 2.3 lengths and if he can show something close to that form, he could spring a surprise result on this field.
Gets in light with 55kg and it’s another good ride for Jamie Kah.
Race 8. (16:45) Ranvet BM90 (1200m)
#8 – Terbium – Bet Now
Terbium showed real professionalism when winning his first four career starts before running sixth at Morphettville.
The Phillip Stokes-trained four-year-old was good enough to beat Zousain at Caulfield in February and anything close to that form sees him winning this.
Drawing barrier 12 around The Valley is a big concern but this isn’t an overly strong field and he could hit the ground running.
Race 9. (17:20) MSC Signs Handicap (2040m)
#13 – Tavirun @ $4.80 – Bet Now
Tavirun is in hot form having won his last three starts and he’s looking to remain unbeaten at Moonee Valley.
The Busuttin/Young-trained gelding has scored all three recent wins comfortably by a combined margin of 6.1 lengths. That takes some effort in this grade and his confidence is sky high.
Gets in nicely at 54kg and should be competitive at each-way odds.
