Moonee Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (18:30) Antler Luggage Maiden (1200m)
#6 – Paul’s Regret @ $3.20 – Bet Now
The three-year-old filly ran well for second on debut and she could go one better here.
She’s a filly by Canford Cliffs which made up good ground at Geelong on a heavy track and the improved track conditions will help.
Gets in with a good draw here and Damian Lane rides, so keep safe in the opening race of the day.
Race 2. (19:00) President’s Cup BM64 (1200m)
#7 – Lake’s Folly @ $3.80 – Bet Now
The Anthony Freedman-trained three-year-old has faced some tough opposition to date and should appreciate this grade.
He’s a son of Pierro which won on debut at Wangaratta before running at Sandown and then Flemington.
That run came behind Soul Patch, so that form is good and he gets a gun run off the inside draw.
Race 3. (19:30) Ladbrokes Back Yourself BM70 (1600m)
#2 – Ignored @ $4.80 – Bet Now
Danny O’Brien lines up the former New Zealand runner which finished 11th at Hastings last start, but is much better than that.
The four-year-old mare owns three wins from nine starts, including a win in rating 72 grade just three starts back.
It’s good to see some betting support and Damien Oliver in the saddle.
Race 4. (20:00) Enjoy Retirement BM64 (1600m)
#4 – Bowing @ $2.05 – Bet Now
Bowing is in form already this campaign with two wins from three starts. The four-year-old scored by a half-length at Bendigo and he could rise through the grades nicely.
Apprentice jockey Jessica Eaton takes some weight off his back and he should get every chance to win from barrier five.
$2.05 is short but he could start as an odds-on favourite.
Race 5. (20:30) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge (955m)
#9 – Mister Mogul @ $10 – Bet Now
Mister Mogul has yet to win this season but has been knocking on the door a few times.
The five-year-old gelding ran second on this track three back before running second in a three-horse field at Swan Hill last start.
Punters should look at the Moonee Valley run as the best betting guide. He showed good barrier speed and that’s a big asset from barrier 11.
Race 6. (21:00) Vicses Barry Plant BM64 (1200m)
#1 – The Closer @ $5.50 – Bet Now
The Maher/Eustace team lines up the four-year-old mare which faced some slick fields last season.
She scored wins in 2018 at Geelong and Ballarat before running behind the likes of Princess Jenni, Spanish Whisper and Amphitrite.
The daughter of Dundeel might only be a two-win type but she has many more wins in store and we’re keeping the faith.
Race 7. (21:30) Dynamic Print Group BM64 (1200m)
#10 – Zoology @ $5 – Bet Now
Brent Stanley trains the five-year-old gelding which has been relatively consistent this season and could go close here.
He scored back-to-back wins to go from maiden grade to rating 64 grade and he was coped with the rise in class well since.
His last two runs have been impressive placings at Moonee Valley where he paid double-figure odds on both occasions.
Both runs were full of merit and he showed a nice turn-of-foot.
Race 8. (22:00) Thank You Ses Volunteers BM64 (2040m)
#11 – Parallel World @ $4.60 – Bet Now
Winning races is becoming tough for Parallel World but the talent is still there so we’re sticking with her.
The six-year-old mare is coming off a fourth at Moonee Valley behind Nerve Not Verve and the form out of that race stacks up nicely.
Draws barrier five which should give jockey Brian Higgins every chance to land her in a good spot and hit the line well.
