Moonee Valley horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (18:30) Seppelt Wines BM64 (1000m)
#1 – Japery @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Japery is a two-time winner for Patrick Payne and the three-year-old gelding scored easily at Wangaratta last time out.
The son of Sizzling scored by three lengths and rising in class shouldn’t hold any fears for this talented type.
Liam Riordan takes a vital 2kg off his back and that helps.
Race 2. (19:00) Cranbourne Fencing Maiden (1600m)
#5 – Supreme Thunder @ $1.65 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Supreme Thunder is knocking on the door of a win after running second at The Valley last start, which is an ideal form guide for this maiden.
The son of Night Of Thunder ran second behind Seb Song and although three lengths behind the winner, he has more upside than most in this field.
Drawing the inside barrier and staying at the mile should help his chances.
Race 3. (19:30) Vertex Roofing C1 Handicap (1523m)
#3 – Tycoon Bec @ $2.15 – Bet @ Sportsbet
An unbeaten record is on the line as Tycoon Bec did the job on debut when scoring at Kyneton.
The four-year-old mare won comfortably by 4.5 lengths and the daughter of Written Tycoon looks to have many more wins in store.
Will Price takes 3kg off her back and we are confident of a top effort.
Race 4. (20:00) Adapt Australia BM64 (1200m)
#7 – Malicorne @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Malicorne didn’t have much luck in a listed race at Caulfield last start but she has been given time to mature.
The Matt Laurie-trained filly scored her maiden win at Kilmore in September and anything close to that run should see her winning here.
Mark Zahra takes the ride from barrier four and we would be surprised if she didn’t figure in the finish.
Race 5. (20:30) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge BM64 (955m)
#1 – Reward With Return @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Value is with Reward With Return, which has been struggling to cross the line first but he has a wealth of experience.
He is a 12-time winner that goes well at The Valley and his run for fourth last start at Moonee Valley is a good form indication.
3kg comes off his back and everything helps.
Race 6. (21:00) Betty Godfrey Memorial BM70 (3000m)
#9 – Wellsford @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The four-year-old gelding is coming off a win at Cranbourne and he couldn’t have been more impressive in breaking his maiden status.
He produced a 6.5-length win on a track similar to this and he won’t be worried about the rise in distance from 2600m to 3000m.
Punters get value odds and his price could firm on race night.
Race 7. (21:30) Ascend Sales Trophies BM64 (1200m)
#12 – Sayumi @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Sayumi got off the mark with a win at Moonee Valley and now that she has broken through, she could kick on with it.
The four-year-old mare has yet to finish worse than third on this track and her half-length win came over a subsequent winner.
The form reads well and we would be surprised if she didn’t figure in the money.
Race 8. (22:00) Drummond Golf BM70 (1000m)
#1 – Elderflower @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Smith-trained mare knows how to win fresh up and she is over the odds. She has yet to finish worse than third, so punters are getting lovely each-way odds.
Her most recent race came at Warrnambool when finishing second and she has the ability to handle all track conditions.
$6 is a great price and those odds should firm.
