Moonee Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (19:00) George “Hollywood” Memorial BM64 (1200m)
#4 – Careless Whisper – Bet Now
Lindsay Park lines up the three-year-old filly which scored a break through win at Echuca last time out.
The daughter of Nicconi scored by a length as the odds-on favourite and she’s bred well enough to rise through the grades.
This is a tricky field but having Craig Williams in the saddle is a bonus and he should be able to find cover from barrier seven.
Race 2. (19:30) Shop for Shops BM70 (1000m)
#2 – Hard Press – Bet Now
Hard Press has very good form lines coming into this and he could win three on the bounce.
The Richard Laming-trained three-year-old scored by 2.8 lengths at Morphettville before backing up with another win at Sandown.
That came fresh up last month where he defeated a solid field and he looks a nice type in the making in these grades.
Race 3. (20:00) Xtreme Freight Maiden (1600m)
#11 – There For You – Bet Now
The Dane Smith-trained mare is knocking on the door after posting three consecutive placings and she could score here.
She’s a four-year-old mare which has been taking on some tidy fields and running well within herself this season.
Securing the inside draw is ideal for this run and with Teo Nugent in the saddle, she should be able to produce a competitive result.
Race 4. (20:30) Quest Moonee Valley BM64 (1200m)
#9 – Diode – Bet Now
Diode took his time to find good form and he did so when winning at Pakenham last start.
The three-year-old gelding scored convincingly by 2.5 lengths and he’s more than capable of rising through the grades now.
His first two starts were awful, so credit goes to trainer Michael Kent for turning his form around.
Should be paying each-way odds.
Race 5. (21:00) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge BM78 (955m)
#11– All Cylinders – Bet Now
All Cylinders has rattled off consecutive wins coming into this and he is maturing into a handy type.
The Peter Robl-trained three-year-old won at Hawkesbury by 3.5 lengths before coming to Moonee Valley and scoring by just under a length.
He has always had more ability than most and he has been primed with a trial win at Hawkesbury to prepare for this.
Just requires a good ride from Craig Williams.
Race 6. (21:30) Evolve Interiors BM70 (3000m)
#7 – Wolfe Tone – Bet Now
Francis Finnegan lines up the stayer which has a placing on this track and could improve on a recent poor performance.
That came in the Jericho at Warrnambool, where he simply didn’t handle the 4600m journey. Dropping to 3000m will help and he scored over 2050m earlier this season.
Not much to this field and getting an inside barrier should see him land on the speed and fight out the finish.
Race 7. (22:00) Leneva Park BM70 (2040m)
#1 – Miss Damita – Bet Now
Consistency is with Miss Damita, which has won twice already this season. The Price/Kent-trained mare has had four starts this time in for two wins and two third placings.
Her overall career statistics reads well with four wins and six placings from 17 starts. It’s tough to overlook winning form over this distance and the claimer in the saddle helps.
Drawn to get a nice sit in behind the pace and she could be hitting the line best late.
Race 8. (22:30) Trowel Craft Plastering C1 Handicap (1500m)
#2 – Bill the Bee – Bet Now
The Moroney stable continues to kick home winners and Bill the Bee could add his name to the list.
He’s a four-year-old which has only one win from 10 starts but he also has five placings. That consistent record should take him close here and he could pay a nice price.
Luke Currie takes the ride from barrier six and punters should be getting value odds with this runner.
