Moonee Valley horse racing tips

Race 1. (18:30) MVRC Membership On Sale BM64 (1200m)

#6 โ€“ Thunder Peak @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Mike Moroney-trained three-year-old scored at Wangaratta last start and she is capable of going back-to-back.

She scored by 2.3 lengths and although facing a rise in class, she is a well-bred type that could kick on with it.

Lachlan King takes 2kg off her back and that helps.

Race 2. (19:00) Moonee Ponds Shopping Maiden (1200m)

#11 โ€“ Sayumi @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Value is with Sayumi, which has yet to win from four starts but she has three placings on her record.

The four-year-old daughter of Sebring finished fourth at Sandown last start and the form out of that race should hold up well.

Drawing barrier four is ideal and Ben Melham should find a good spot in running.

Race 3. (19:30) Ladbrokes Odds Boost C1 Handicap (1600m)

#1 โ€“ Hasseltoff @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The four-year-old is coming off a gritty effort for second at Sandown and he was a touch unlucky not to win that race.

He was a mile ahead of the third runner and his win prior at Pakenham was a good indication of how talented he is.

Getting the inside draw is ideal and it has plenty of upside.

Race 4. (20:00) Shop At Union Rd Ascot BM70 (2040m)

#5 โ€“ Night Witches @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Night Witches is a capable type that is looking to score back-to-back wins at Moonee Valley.

She scored by a nose last start and despite the margin being narrow, she had to call on her quality to get there.

Rising in distance is ideal and punters should expect her to sit off the pace and come with a big late run.

Race 5. (20:30) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge BM64 (955m)

#10 โ€“ Goolagong Rose @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Goolagong Rose scored an easy win on debut at Gawler and there was plenty to like about that effort.

The four-year-old won by 3.5 lengths and although rising in class for this race, she has since won both trials at Morphettville and Murray Bridge.

Drawing well in barrier three suits and the early betting support is there.

Race 6. (21:00) Heartkids Hero BM70 (2500m)

#4 โ€“ Queen Guinevere @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Queen Guinevere has hit top gear after posting consecutive wins and weโ€™re not backing against her on Friday night.

The five-year-old is only a four-time winner but she has her confidence levels up and she has drawn to get a soft run.

Punters get value odds at $5 and that price could drop throughout the week.

Race 7. (21:30) Seppelt Wines BM64 (2040m)

#8 โ€“ Fiftyonestates @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Fiftyonestates mixes her form but sheโ€™s dangerous on her day. The Shea Eden-trained mare won at Ballarat two back before running ninth at The Valley last start.

Despite running ninth, she was only two lengths behind the winner, so the run was much better than it looked.

She gets a valuable 3kg claimer in the saddle and that will take her close.

Race 8. (22:00) Moonee Valley Park BM64 (1200m)

#11 โ€“ Zoushack @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Zoushack hasnโ€™t been a puntersโ€™ friend this year but the Lindsay Park-trained gelding is talented at best.

He is a two-time winner from 12 starts and he owns a placing at Moonee Valley, which is always vital to have.

He should get a nice drag in behind the speed and hit the line with power.
