Moonee Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (18:30) Ladbrokes Back Yourself 0MW (1000m)
#3 – Masseuse – Bet Now
The Maher/Eustace team lines up the two-year-old debutante, which could make a winning debut.
She’s a well-bred daughter of Rubick which has shown enough at home and Linda Meech rides the juveniles well.
Betting on the night will be a good guide.
Race 2. (19:00) Happy Valentines Greaney Maiden (1600m)
#9 – Holster – Bet Now
The three-year-old didn’t fire in a tough race on debut but quickly improved last time out.
He finished second at Sandown behind Ellis Park and that form should be good enough to warrant attention in this race.
He’s a son of Tavistock that should be able to break maiden grades soon, despite this being a tough race.
Race 3. (19:30) Happy Valentines BM64 (1600m)
#4 – Field of Lights – Bet Now
Lindsay Park lines up the three-year-old which was last seen winning at Pakenham by a half-length.
The son of Canford Cliffs didn’t have much luck in the run but was still able to pick them up nicely over the concluding stages.
Prior to that, he finished off his races with style and the rise in distance was ideal. Staying at the mile should suit nicely.
Race 4. (20:00) Happy Valentines Day K Summer BM64 (2040m)
#8 – Vallauris – Bet Now
James Cummings lines up the gelding that capped off some solid form with a win at Sale last start.
The son of Medaglia D’oro owns five placings from nine starts and the rise to 2200m worked the trick at Sale.
He drops back to 2040m for this race, which is a strange decision, but he should still be competitive despite that.
Race 5. (20:30) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge BM84 (955m)
#10 – Sei Stella – Bet Now
Sei Stella showed her class when scoring by a half-length at Moonee Valley start. She sat midfield before coming with a big run and she could repeat the dose.
She is a fresh up specialist with four wins from five starts. However, she usually runs well with a run under the belt, so consider here.
Punters should be able to get each-way odds from the wide barrier.
Race 6. (21:00) Torney Night Cup (2500m)
#3 – Vaucluse Bay – Bet Now
It was an effortless win for Vaucluse Bay at Caulfield last start and this is an easier field.
The Chris Waller-trained gelding scored by 2.5 lengths and he relished the rise up in distance. He was able to lead throughout and punters should expect similar tactics for this race.
Having Linda Meech in the saddle helps and she should be able to go close.
Race 7. (21:30) Dynamic Print Sprint BM64 (1200m)
#7 – Confidant – Bet Now
Confidant scored nicely on debut at Pakenham before running solidly at Moonee Valley last time out.
The colt by Fastnet Rock finished fourth behind Rocking Eagle and we’re expecting that form to stack up well enough at this level.
Jockey Mark Zahra will have some work to do from barrier 10, but he rides well at The Valley and punters will get nice odds.
Race 8. (22:00) Ladbrokes Odds Boost BM78 (1600m)
#12 – Parlay Princess – Bet Now
Parlay Princess is in form, having won three of her last four starts. The four-year-old won by a nose at Sandown last start and it was a tough effort.
She’s a recent winner at Caulfield and although rising in grade from that run, she’s more than capable of handling it.
Dropping in weight to 55kg is ideal, so expect a top run.
