Moonee Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (18:30) Distinctive Floor Cover BM84 (3000m)
#2 – Yulong Rising – Bet Now
Lindsay Park lines up the five-year-old gelding that is coming off a win at Moonee Valley. It was a solid 1.3-length win and he looks capable of kicking on with it.
Having that run under the 2500m is ideal and there should be no worries with him stretching out to 3000m.
He gets the inside draw and looks the strongest to beat.
Race 2. (19:00) Lesley McPhee Memorial Plate (1200m)
#6 – Palacio Musico – Bet Now
The three-year-old colt is looking to go one better than his second placing at Geelong last start. It was a tough effort after sitting just off the speed and he should benefit from the run.
He’s a well-bred son of Snitzel that has shown good barrier speed to date and although drawing 11 isn’t ideal, he could handle this field.
Punters should be getting each-way odds.
Race 3. (19:30) Leneva Park BM70 (1000m)
#2 – Peak – Bet Now
Peak has plenty of upside after winning two of his four starts last time in work. The other two runs resulted in placings, so he’s a consistently impressive thoroughbred.
Trained by Team Hawkes, the three-year-old is coming off a 1.5-length win at Newcastle and form in Sydney typically stacks up nicely.
He ran fourth at Caulfield on debut and that’s another strong form guide.
Race 4. (20:00) The Drain Man BM70 (1600m)
#8 – Part Time Lover – Bet Now
Part Time Lover capped off consecutive second placings with a win at Bendigo. The four-year-old mare won by just under a length, so that form looks good enough for this race.
It was her second win from 12 starts and she also has four second placings to his name. She’s good enough to win again and punters should be getting value odds.
Race 5. (20:30) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge BM70 (955m)
#11 – Stravain – Bet Now
The four-year-old mare is shooting for three consecutive victories after posting wins at Stony Creek and Warrnambool. Her half-length win last start was a tough effort and she gets some things in her favour.
The inside draw is ideal and dropping down in weight to 57kg helps her chances. We’re expecting another tidy effort from the daughter of Stratum.
Race 6. (21:00) MSC Signs BM64 (1600m)
#2 – Bill the Bee – Bet Now
Mike Moroney lines up the gelding which hasn’t been the most consistent runner this season, but the ability is there.
The four-year-old held his ground when third at Moonee Valley last start and a similar effort would see him running close in this race.
Because of his inconsistent form, punters might get value odds for Bill the Bee.
Race 7. (21:30) Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m)
#4 – Sassy Salitage – Bet Now
The last time Sassy Salitage raced was when she finished second behind Magic Millions winner Exhilarates, which is great form.
A three-year-old filly by Toronado, she won her first two starts impressively, including a 1.3-length win on this track. It all bodes well for a good run and seeing Damien Oliver in the saddle in a bonus.
Drawing barrier two should see her ride the speed and kick strongly.
Race 8. (22:00) Drummond Golf BM70 (1200m)
#10 – Leiter – Bet Now
Leiter comes into this race having finished second at Moonee Valley last start and he should run well again.
The four-year-old by Wanted made good ground over the concluding stages and he has class, as shown when winning by 4.8 lengths on debut.
His form since has come against some top types, including a placing behind Group 1 Lightning Stakes winner Gytrash. That’s hot form at this level.
