Moonee Valley horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (18:30) E.J. Whitten Time To Test Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Treporti @ $2.05 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Danny O’Brien-trained runner has been a touch unlucky not to win, but that could all change on Friday night.
He is a well-bred colt by I Am Invincible that comes off a fourth at Flemington behind a smart type, so that form stacks up brilliantly for this contest.
Tough to beat and $2.05 is a fair price.
Race 2. (19:00) Sally Bruten Memorial C1 Handicap (1200m)
#7 – Marabi @ $1.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Punters had to be impressed with Marabi on debut, scoring by six lengths at Pakenham in a dominant display.
The Maher/Eustace-trained mare was well-backed to win and that confidence showed up on race night. It was a stunning debut and she could go on with the job.
$1.40 is short, but include Marabi in your multi bets.
Race 3. (19:30) The Drain Man BM70 (1600m)
#1 – The Regiment @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Regiment comes off three wins from his last four starts and we can’t overlook that form.
He is a six-year-old that has an incredible 54 runs under his belt, so he’s not lacking fitness and he’s in career-best form.
His most recent win came at The Valley, so punters get value odds.
Race 4. (20:00) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge BM78 (955m)
#1 – Sartorial Splendor @ $3.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Sartorial Splendor has a class advantage over this field and with two wins on this track, he is a track specialist.
The John Sadler-trained four-year-old scored a win in this grade two starts back before struggling in open company. Dropping back in grade helps and he demands respect.
$3.80 is a price worth taking and the 3kg claim is ideal.
Race 5. (20:30) Midway Concrete Kingdom BM64 (1200m)
#1 – Snapper @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Snapper is a former Kiwi that left them wanting at Moonee Valley last start. The three-year-old son of Power scored by 3.3 lengths and he finally showed his true ability.
He had a big following when he started off across the Tasman, but he never produced. However, with his confidence up now, he could go back-to-back.
Bookmakers are offering punters value odds this week.
Race 6. (21:00) E.J. Whitten Foundation BM70 (2040m)
#4 – Larrikin @ $7.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Larrikin comes off a win at Sandown and although he paid a big price to win, he will enjoy the confidence from the outing.
The seven-year-old is a nine-time winner, so he has the experience edge over many of his rivals on Friday night.
Will Price takes 2kg off his back.
Race 7. (21:30) Ranvet Summer Series BM78 (2500m)
#3 – Outlandos @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Outlandos comes off back-to-back wins and he looked impressive when scoring at The Valley last time out.
The McEvoy-trained son of Dissident scored by 2.5 lengths against a similar field, so there’s no reason why he can’t repeat the dose.
Barrier 10 won’t be an issue over this distance, so punters should be confident.
Race 8. (22:00) Adapt Australia Summer BM78 (1200m)
#2 – Leiter @ $23 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Leiter runs at big odds and although his most recent runs have been only fair, his fresh up win was solid.
The five-year-old has taken on tough opposition since and he runs his best races at Moonee Valley. Therefore, punters should appreciate the big odds available.
Lachlan King takes 2kg off his back and he could steal the last race of the night.
