Moonee Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:40) Dominant BM70 (1000m)
#1 – Unflinching @ $2 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Looking to remain unbeaten after three starts is Unflinching, who scored at Mornington on debut before winning at The Valley.
The three-year-old colt by I Am Invincible scored by 1.5 lengths last time out and there is little wrong with that performance.
Punters get $2 for a runner that could firm to around $1.75.
Race 2. (13:15) Dominant Cleaning Solution Handicap (1200m)
#3 – Eros @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Ran into a nice type on debut when clearing out the rest of the field at Geelong, which usually bodes well.
The Freedman-trained colt is being tested against stronger opposition, so that should give punters confidence that connections are confident.
Barrier three is ideal and most of the early money has come his way.
Race 3. (13:50) Mirasan BM100 (2500m)
#5 – Daqiansweet Junior @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Daqiansweet Junior has come of age since arriving from New Zealand and he’s shooting for four consecutive wins.
The Phillip Stokes-trained son of Sweet Orange won narrowly at Caulfield last start and he has experience winning at The Valley, which is key.
Dropping to 53kg offsets the rise in class and having Jamie Kah riding helps.
Race 4. (14:25) Mia Kleer Hand Sanitiser BM70 (2500m)
#2 – Salto Angel @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Salto Angel fought gamely to the line at Caulfield last start and we like what we saw late.
The Danny O’Brien-trained four-year-old has yet to race at The Valley, but she should be suited by the tight-turning track.
Barrier three is ideal and she should lob into the perfect position, so take the each-way odds available.
Race 5. (15:00) Ladbrokes Fast Withdrawal BM78 (1000m)
#5 – Winsum @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Winsum comes off an impressive win at Pakenham and it could double down on that effort.
The Keys-trained four-year-old owns three wins and two placings from eight starts, so he doesn’t know how to run a bad race.
All three wins have come over 1000m, so add him to your selections.
Race 6. (15:40) Dominant Protect Brand BM70 (1200m)
#11 – Sharp Response @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Sharp Response went close behind a smart type at Flemington last start and he could go one better on Saturday.
The three-year-old son of Maurice has been facing harder fields than this and running well, so we expect him to be winning shortly.
The early betting support is a good sign and we expect late betting moves to come.
Race 7. (16:20) Mirasan Hand Sanitiser BM84 (1500m)
#6 – High ‘n’ Dry @ $8 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The seven-year-old son of High Chaparral won nicely two back before finishing fourth at Flemington last start.
He might not have the electric speed of some runners, but he sticks on gamely and punters often get value odds.
2kg comes off his back and that could make the difference.
Race 8. (17:00) Dominant Sanitation BM84 (1200m)
#11 – In the Boat @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
We were impressed with the effort from In the Boat at Caulfield last start. He had to cross from a wide barrier and he did it with ease.
The Smith-trained four-year-old owns four wins and three placings from seven starts, so he doesn’t know how to run a bad race.
Dropping in weight helps and we’re not surprised by the money coming for him.
Race 9. (17:40) Dominant Powered Cleaning BM70 (1200m)
#11 – Patrika Gold @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Looking to remain unbeaten is Patrika Gold, who scored easily by 4.5 lengths on debut at Terang.
The four-year-old mare runs at value odds on Saturday and she comes into contention with the 2kg claim, so we’re confident of a big effort.
It could pay to watch late betting moves.
