Night racing is back at The Valley after a big meeting last week and we have our best value bets across the card.
Moonee Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (18:30) Alinta Energy BM70 (1000m)
#8 – Ms Catherine – Bet Now
Henry Dwyer lines up the three-year-old filly that scored impressively on debut and could kick on with it.
The filly by Shooting to Win led throughout the run and kicked clear on the turn at Bendigo. She scored by 1.3 lengths and dropping in weight to 55kg is going to help.
This isn’t an easy field but she is capable of handling the grade.
Race 2. (19:00) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge BM78 (955m)
#6 – Fight – Bet Now
Fight makes his return after running eighth in a tough race at Caulfield last July.
He hasn’t been seen for some time now, but he showed his ability when winning consecutive races at Mornington and Sandown when last in work.
The stable hasn’t felt the need to give him any trials to prepare and with Craig Williams in the saddle, punters should expect a nice effort.
Race 3. (19:30) Alinta Energy Maiden (1200m)
#7 – Finesse Tess – Bet Now
The three-year-old filly has posted two placings from two starts and the form out of those races has stacked up.
She’s a filly by Skilled that ran second behind Score on debut before making up good ground behind Ling Ling last start.
She’s going to find a good position from the barrier and senior rider Brett Prebble is in the saddle.
Race 4. (20:00) Reliable Energy Plate (1000m)
#9 – Minhaaj – Bet Now
The Lindsay Park-trained filly is making her debut and she’s bred to be pretty good.
She is by Exceed And Excel and hasn’t had any trials to prepare, which is usually a good sign from this stable.
Drawing barrier 10 could make it tough but punters could get value odds.
Race 5. (20:30) Affordable Energy BM78 (3000m)
#2 – Alienated – Bet Now
Coming off a win at Cranbourne over this distance, Alienated could go back-to-back.
The six-year-old scored narrowly in the run to the line and his confidence should have returned with that performance.
It’s good to see Craig Williams in the saddle and he’ll be able to get the best out of the thoroughbred.
Race 6. (21:00) Alinta Energy Stayers BM78 (2040m)
#3 – Donndubhan – Bet Now
Brent Stanley lines up the five-year-old gelding that has won five of his 20 career starts to date.
The free-running type led for most of the contest at Flemington last start and that form should stack up brilliantly for this race.
His form this season has come around some smart city types and there are no superstars in this race, so he could take advantage of that.
Punters should be getting each-way odds.
Race 7. (21:30) Alinta Energy Lunar NY BM70 (1600m)
#1 – Talenti – Bet Now
Scratched from racing last Friday night, punters could cash in on Talenti this time around.
The talented son of Niagara has won three of his six starts and his most recent effort came behind some stiff competition.
On his day, he’ll be too good for this field and although he carries the big weight, he’s capable of doing it.
Watch the market for any late betting moves coming his way.
Race 8. (22:00) Sustainable Energy BM64 (1200m)
#8 – Meuse – Bet Now
Meuse kicked off her career with a win at Bendigo and a win at Caulfield. She defeated some nice type on both occasions before running fifth last start.
It might have been too much too soon for Meuse last start. However, she wouldn’t have lost any admirers with the effort.
She’s a talented daughter of Snitzel and she should enter winning calculations.
