Moonee Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:20) Sheamus Mills Bloodstock Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Jabali Ridge – Bet Now
Jabali Ridge is coming off a nice outing for fourth at Caulfield and he has the best exposed form in this race.
The two-year-old son of Jabali has scored a two-length win at Flemington and it is tough to find better form than that.
Damien Oliver rides and there are plenty of positives in his favour.
Race 2. (12:55) Fiorente at Sun Stud Handicap (1600m)
#3 – Librate – Bet Now
Librate lost no admirers when running second behind Right You Are last start and her form prior was excellent.
The Price/Kent-trained filly won back-to-back races with Damien Oliver riding and although he jumped off her back last start, he’s back on now.
That is a great sign for punters and she is a tough filly.
Race 3. (13:35) Dynamic Print Group BM78 (1600m)
#2 – Sikorsky – Bet Now
We are going with yet another Oliver ride here. Sikorsky was entitled to be beaten at Caulfield last start but he battled on resolutely for second.
Prior to that he won at Flemington without being fully let down. It was a win of a horse going places and we can fully forgive his most recent performance.
He only needs a fraction of luck to take this out.
Race 4. (14:15) Sweeney Real Estate Agents Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Great Again – Bet Now
It was an excellent win from Great Again last start and it showed that he can compete in Melbourne. The former Perth-based runner defeated a tough field at Flemington and he could go back-to-back.
The seven-year-old is a 10-time winner from only 22 starts, so he wins almost as often as he doesn’t. That is a good clip and the son of Viscount could add to his record.
Race 5. (14:55) Ranvet Handicap (1000m)
#2 – Ms Catherine – Bet Now
Ms Catherine is unbeaten after three starts and she has looked well above average. Her most recent wins have come at The Valley, including a 4.5-length win.
The daughter of Shooting to Win has shown excellent barrier speed in all three starts and Moonee Valley is a great leaders track.
The claim helps and she should be tough to beat once again.
Race 6. (15:35) Drummond Golf BM78 (1200m)
#3 – Dixon Street – Bet Now
Dixon Street continues to win after three on the bounce and she has every chance of rising in grade and scoring again.
The McEvoy-trained filly has won all her races in South Australia, but that can be a good form guide and she makes her own luck.
The three-year-old will sit handy to the pace and it is another quality ride for Damien Oliver.
Race 7. (16:15) Keogh Homes T Harrison Cup (1600m)
#4 – Shot of Irish @ $2.70 – Bet Now
The Valley suits perfectly for Shot of Irish, which has experience when running second on this track.
He is a five-year-old gelding that is yet to run worse than second from four starts over the mile and that is unlikely to change here.
Expect the rider to push forward from the barrier and the eight-time winner could add his ninth.
Race 8. (16:50) Inglis July Sales Series Handicap (2040m)
#9 – Harbour Views @ $2.70 – Bet Now
Harbour Views has been costly in two runs back from a spell but he is well worth sticking with. The five-year-old has yet to finish worse than third and owns five wins.
His most recent win came at Geelong and although he has yet to win in open company, it should only be a matter of time.
We are not surprised to see early money come his way and he is drawn to get every chance in the run.
Race 9. (17:20) Ladbrokes Switch BM84 (1200m)
#6 – Jamaican Hurry – Bet Now
Jamaican Hurry couldn’t quite make it four wins on the bounce last start but she went down fighting.
The Yargi-trained five-year-old scored two wins at Flemington and one at Mornington, so her form should stack up nicely in this grade.
She drops in grade after contesting rating 90 last start and it bodes well for another top effort.
