Mooney Valley Racing Tips

Race 1. (13:20) Moonee Valley Park Maiden (1600m)

#9 – Skywriter @ $2.50

Chris Waller lines up the three-year-old filly, who comes off a second placing at Sandown.

The daughter of Written Tycoon was only a half-length behind the winner as a $1.80 chance, so punters get better odds this time around.

Drawing barrier 12 isn’t easy at The Valley, but Craig Williams rides.

Race 2. (13:55) Beanbag Cinema BM64 (1200m)

#6 – Pretty Tavi @ $2.25

Pretty Tavi comes off a second placing at The Valley and she’s good enough to go one better on Sunday.

The three-year-old filly by Tavistock wasn’t far behind a nice type and we expect that form to stack up nicely.

Getting the inside draw is ideal, especially over this distance.

Race 3. (14:30) The Orbit Logistics Final BM78 (2500m)

#1 – Zoom @ $4

Zoom comes off three consecutive wins at the provincials and he’s good enough to beat this field.

The former European is unbeaten since arriving in Australia and rising to 2500m is right up his alley.

He’s bred to stay, and although it’s not an easy field at The Valley, he looks to have more upside than most.

Race 4. (15:05) Racing Hearts BM78 (955m)

#5 – Senegalia @ $2.20

Senegalia is gunning for three consecutive wins after scoring at Flemington and Sandown.

The four-year-old mare by Street Boss is a three-time winner and five-time placegetter from 10 starts, so she’s consistent.

Barrier five with only 54.5kg on her back is ideal.

Race 5. (15:45) Resolve Environmental BM70 (1600m)

#3 – Golden Crusader @ $4.60

Golden Crusader is a former European runner that has shown good form since arriving in Australia.

The five-year-old gelding owns two wins and three placings from nine starts, including a win over the distance.

Having Jamie Kah in the saddle is ideal and punters get value odds available.

Race 6. (16:20) Sharp Extensive It BM64 (1000m)

#10 – Hissy Fit @ $7

Hissy Fit looked good winning on debut at Mornington by 1.3 lengths before finishing close enough at Sandown.

The three-year-old daughter of Zoustar was only 2.6 lengths behind the likes of Greece, so that form checks out at this level.

We thought she would be shorter in betting markets, so take the value odds available.

Race 7. (16:55) The Measure Engineering BM78 (1200m)

#2 – Red Hot Nicc @ $5.50

Red Hot Nicc scored consecutive wins earlier this preparation before running third behind D’jumbuck, which is excellent form.

The four-year-old son of Nicconi has yet to finish worse than second in two starts at The Valley, which is a horses-for-courses track.

Barrier four is ideal and the each-way odds are too good to pass up.

Race 8. (17:35) Ladbrokes Mates Mode BM70 (1200m)

#10 – Mawallock @ $6

Mawallock has looked good when winning consecutive races to start her career, both coming at Warrnambool.

The three-year-old daughter of Trust in a Gust won by 1.3 lengths on debut against Hughie before scoring by two lengths last time out.

She will need to improve to win here, but she’s heading in the right direction.
