Moonee Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (18:30) Leneva Park BM78 (3800m)
#3 – Wolfe Tone – Bet Now
Tough to line up the form for a 3800m race but Wolfe Tone is a recent winner and that’s good form.
The Francis Finnigan-trained five-year-old scored narrowly at Mornington two back over 2050m and coped well enough with the rise in distance last start.
He worked home late behind Pretty Mama and he could turn the tables and what should be each-way odds.
Race 2. (19:00) $99 Summer Membership C1 Handicap (1500m)
#1 – Atone – Bet Now
Atone is a five-year-old gelding which has finished in the money in four of his six career starts.
The son of Reset was a winner on debut at Mornington before rising up in grade and handling it nicely.
He finished second at Sandown before taking on some hot opposition at Caulfield. That form is going to hold him in good stead for this race.
Just needs some luck from the wide draw.
Race 3. (19:30) Ladbrokes Bonus Back BM70 (2040m)
#7 – Play Me Now – Bet Now
Play Me Now looked the goods when winning his first two starts and he could return to winning form here.
The Cindy Alderson-trained four-year-old ran an encouraging second placing at Mornington earlier this month and he has experience on this track.
He’s a past two-length winner at The Valley and that experience can be tough to come by.
Looks a top chance in this.
Race 4. (20:00) Team Taylor Foundation BM64 (1200m)
#1 – Cosmic Rhapsody – Bet Now
Looking to win his third consecutive race, the three-year-old gelding could handle the rise in class and win again.
Cosmic Rhapsody scored a 1.3-length win at Murray Bridge before doubling down and winning at Echuca last time out.
Drawing barrier five is ideal and he could stave off this talented field.
Race 5. (20:30) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge BM70 (955m)
#9 – All Cylinders – Bet Now
All Cylinders got back to winning form when scoring at Hawkesbury last start and he could handle going the other way around.
The son of Testa Rossa scored by 3.5 lengths and prior to that he had been running against some strong opposition in Sydney.
Tricky field to line up but he gets an inside draw and Linda Meech is a solid rider close to the pace.
Race 6. (21:00) B&K Express BM70 (1600m)
#4 – Heavenly Emperor – Bet Now
Consistency is with Heavenly Emperor, which has finished in the money in seven of his 10 career starts.
Trained by Stephen Brown, the four-year-old resumed with a good run at Bendigo and that form stacks up nicely.
Gets some weight relief with Ethan Brown in the saddle and that will be needed with the original weight of 59kg.
Should run another quality race.
Race 7. (21:30) Simpson Construction (1000m)
#11 – Diamond Bliss – Bet Now
Diamond Bliss might only be a one-race winner, but he’s ultra-consistent. She has finished in the money in six of her nine starts and has yet to put in a bad run.
The mare by So You Think has finished second at her two starts this campaign and getting the inside draw could see her turn that into winning form.
The drop back in distance isn’t ideal but she was won a trial over 990m so consider in this.
Race 8. (22:00) Moonee Valley Park BM64 (1200m)
#8 – Zoology – Bet Now
Zoology kicked off this preparation with consecutive wins and although beaten since, he did face some nice fields.
The Brent Stanley-trained five-year-old finished ninth at Bendigo but improved nicely to run third at The Valley last start.
Having that experience is a bonus and we’re expecting another good effort from Zoology here.
