We have expert betting tips for the card this Friday night at Moonee Valley, which features eight quality betting races.
Night racing returns to Moonee Valley with an eight-race card. The quality of racing this week is top-notch and we look at the best runners at the meeting.
Moonee Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (18:30) 3 Point Motors Plate (1600m)
#4 – Sayl @ $3.20 – Bet Now
Chris Waller lines up the three-year-old gelding which went close at Moonee Valley last start and could go one better here.
The son of Ifraaj made up good ground to finish second behind Call Me Shamus and although he hasn’t won from 10 starts, it’s only a matter of time with this runner.
Nice enough odds on offer so consider.
Race 2. (19:00) $99 Summer Membership BM64 (1000m)
#6 – Heka Express @ $3.50 – Bet Now
Heka Express comes into this off a win at Ballarat and she looks good enough to kick on with it now.
The Corstens-trained three-year-old filly scored emphatically by five lengths after sitting on the pace and kicking away in the straight.
It was a run of a filly that could rise through the grades nicely and punters are getting good odds on this occasion.
She’s definitely worth sticking with.
Race 3. (19:30) MLA Holdings BM70 (1600m)
#4 – Sovereign Award @ $1.95 – Bet Now
Sovereign Award is a capable mare which owns two wins and two placings from just six career starts.
The Danny O’Brien-trained daughter of Shamus Award is backing up after running sixth at Flemington on Oaks Day and the form out of that race should stack up well.
There has been plenty of money put on and the Melbourne Cup-winning combination of O’Brien and Craig Williams teams up once again.
Race 4. (20:00) “K” Line Group BM64 (1600m)
#5 – Living The Dream @ $4.60 – Bet Now
Punters could be living the dream if the consistent four-year-old runs another good race this Friday.
The Mitchell Freedman-trained runner has finished in the money in five of his seven starts, which includes a win at Ballarat in October.
He hasn’t done much wrong in placing twice since and his run for second behind Sophia’s Choice two starts back is a good form guide for this.
Goes on top at each-way odds.
Race 5. (20:30) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge (955m)
#6 – Propelle @ $3.10 – Bet Now
Propelle is a speedy customer which has a good record fresh up. She has won and placed from three fresh up starts, which bodes well for this.
Another positive for this run is the inside draw. She likes to use the rail to her advantage and with only 55kg on her back, she’s going to be tough to hold out.
Owns the class edge over this field and we’re expecting her to go close to setting the benchmark for the 55 Second Challenge.
Race 6. (21:00) Ranvet Handicap C1 (1200m)
#9 – Rolls @ $4 – Bet Now
It might have taken seven runs to get off the mark, but Rolls could continue the roll here.
The three-year-old gelding scored by four lengths at Hamilton last start and after sitting just behind the speed, he took over in the straight and kicked clear.
That racing pattern is a big positive at Moonee Valley and Linda Meech is a good front-running jockey.
Has every chance at each-way odds in an even field.
Race 7. (21:30) Ladbrokes Odds BM64 (1200m)
#1 – Bronksi Girl @ $14 – Bet Now
There is good value with Bronski Girl, which was good enough to win consecutive races earlier this campaign.
She didn’t fire as a $41 chance last start at this track, but that came against some hot opposition and she’s better-suited to this.
Her consecutive wins came relatively easily and we’re confident she can run better than her odds suggest.
Race 8. (22:00) Xmas Functions BM78 (2040m)
#7 – Mahis Angel @ $6 – Bet Now
Mahis Angel represents value at the odds and he only needs to improve a touch to win this race.
The four-year-old gelding is a three-time winner from 13 starts and he also has four placings on his record.
He wasn’t all that far behind them when running fifth at Flemington last start and another run similar should be good enough for this.
Take the odds as they could firm.
