Moonee Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:55) MVRC Membership On Sale Now BM70 (1600m)
#5 – Seb Song @ $2.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Seb Song has made a good start to his career with back-to-back second placings. He ran second at Donald last start and he was only a short head behind Kohli.
The form out of that race looks to have stacked up well since and drawing barrier two should allow him to find a good spot in the running.
$2.60 is a fair price from bookmakers in the opening race.
Race 2. (13:30) Ladbrokes Plate (1000m)
#3 – Brazen Boy @ $3 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Brazen Boy was late-scratched from his first outing but the well-related gelding won a trial by 14 lengths in Adelaide.
The son of Brazen Beau is related to Away Game, so he has plenty to live up to. Early money has come his way in the betting markets, which is a good sign.
Expect a positive outing on debut.
Race 3. (14:05) Vale Jim Marconi BM64 (1600m)
#9 – Murganella @ $9 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The five-year-old is shooting for three consecutive wins after scoring at Sale and Geelong, which came either side of a spell.
He opened up his campaign with a 1.3-length win at Geelong when carrying 62kg, so dropping to 59kg helps his cause.
Punters get value odds and they are worth taking.
Race 4. (14:40) Tua’s Quality Half Century BM78 (1600m)
#8 – Re Edit @ $4.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Re Edit was huge behind Rocha Clock at Flemington last start and that form is very good for this race.
The Chris Waller-trained mare flashed home late and narrowly miss and although only a two-win type, she is better than advertised.
We are expecting a big run with Damien Oliver riding.
Race 5. (15:20) McMahon’s Dairy McKenzie Stakes (1200m)
#4 – Deep Speed @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Deep Speed wasn’t beaten far by some nice types last start and he looked good winning both starts prior.
The McEvoy-trained gelding scored wins at Morphettville and Moonee Valley, so having experience on this track is ideal.
Drawing barrier five is ideal and he will get a good run in transit.
Race 6. (16:00) Seppelt Wines BM78 (1000m)
#10 – Chevalier D’eon @ $12 – Bet @ Sportsbet
John McArdle lines up the five-year-old mare that is capable of beating this quality field.
He has experience racing at The Valley and with a win and two placings over this distance, he will have no troubles sprinting.
The only concern is the wide draw, but he goes close with luck.
Race 7. (16:40) Rendr Delivery BM90 (2040m)
#2 – Bartholomeu Dias @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Coming off a narrow defeat at Kyneton is Bartholomeu Dias, which is getting closer to recording another win.
The Maher/Eustace-trained gelding didn’t fire against tough opposition at Flemington in July, but he has improved since returning from a spell.
Carrying 60kg doesn’t make it easy, but punters get each-way odds.
Race 8. (17:20) Fiorente Carlyon Stakes (1000m)
#2 – Coruscate @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
James Cummings lines up the professional eight-time winner that is capable of returning to form.
He is a well-bred son of Exceed And Excel that finished 1.5 lengths behind the winner last start and that form looks good for this race.
Early barrier speed will be needed from barrier 10 but having Oliver in the saddle is a bonus.
Race 9. (17:55) Ladbrokes Back Yourself BM78 (1200m)
#6 – Overkill @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Not much went right for Overkill at Bendigo last start but we’re expecting a better effort this time around.
The Maher/Eustace-trained runner is a three-time winner from five starts, and he has yet to finish worse than third.
He is unbeaten from two starts at The Valley and punters are getting value odds in the final race.
