Moonee Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:10) Inglis Banner (1000m)
#4 – It’s A Deal @ $4 – Bet Now
Strong money has come for It’s A Deal following an impressive trial win at Cranbourne.
The Busuttin/Young-trained two-year-old scored by 2.5 lengths and the son of Dundeel could have a nice future.
His opening odds of $7.50 were immediately taken into $4 and that’s a good sign moving forward.
Tough race but he should give punters a good sight.
Race 2. (12:40) Strathmore Bendigo Bank (955m)
#4 – Esperance @ $2.10 – Bet Now
Esperance is a five-year-old from the James Cummings stable which has shown good speed to date.
He’s a four-time winner from 11 starts and he has shown good fresh up form in the past. He has won and placed from three fresh starts, which bodes well for this.
Drawing barrier four over this distance suits and carrying 54kg is a bonus. Looks a strong winning chance and money is coming.
Race 3. (13:15) Antler Luggage Fillies Classic (1600m)
#6 – Beauty Bolt @ $7 – Bet Now
Graeme Begg lines up the three-year-old filly which could return to form here. The well-bred daughter of Redoute’s Choice wasn’t all that far away last start.
She ran fifth behind Moonlight Maid and prior to that she won back-to-back races at Geelong and Seymour.
Drawn well in barrier four and punters are getting each-way odds to enjoy.
Race 4. (13:50) Crockett Stakes (1200m)
#3 – Villami @ $2.20 – Bet Now
Villami is at short odds for a runner that hasn’t won since her debut, but she has been running against hot fields.
The three-year-old filly ran third behind Loving Gaby on this track last start and prior to that she ran second behind Libertini.
That’s top-class form and having James McDonald in the saddle with a light weight of 55kg is ideal.
The only negative is the wide draw, but she’s clearly got talent and speed to burn.
Race 5. (14:25) Australia Stakes (1200m)
#1 – Condo’s Express @ $4.20 – Bet Now
Richard Laming lines up the three-year-old gelding which scored back-to-back wins on this track earlier this preparation.
The son of Rubick scored by 2.3 lengths when last running at Moonee Valley and he wasn’t all that far away at Caulfield last time out.
Unbeaten on this track and he should get every chance with Damien Oliver in the saddle.
Race 6. (15:00) Drummond Golf Vase (2040m)
#1 – Battenburg @ $2.60 – Bet Now
Battenburg has yet to win a race from four attempts but he put the writing on the wall last time out.
The John Thompson-trained colt finished third behind Victoria Derby favourite Shadow Hero in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes.
It’s only a matter of time before he breaks through and it could come here.
Race 7. (15:35) Moonee Valley Gold Cup (2500m)
#6 – Mr Quickie @ $3.10 – Bet Now
Mr Quickie missed out on a run in the Cox Plate but he should be able to go close in this race.
He was unlucky in the Caulfield Cup when getting caught behind runners, so take nothing away from that performance.
The 2500m suits and with the Melbourne Cup looming, Mr Quickie is due a big performance leading into it.
Inside draw is good over this distance and punters are getting better odds than expected.
Race 8. (16:10) Schweppes Crystal Mile (1600m)
#1 – Gailo Chop @ $5.50 – Bet Now
Gailo Chop is another runner which missed on a run in the Cox Plate and that bodes well for this run.
He’s a quality eight-year-old which has won 13 of his 32 starts. That record is tough to overlook and he wasn’t too far behind in the Caulfield Stakes last start.
$5.50 is a great price from bookmakers and he should be able to push forward and run close.
He’s certainly worth including on your ticket.
Race 10. (17:45) Solutions Stakes (1600m)
#1 – Consensus @ $13 – Bet Now
Consensus produced a good run in defeat last start and he could improve nicely at odds.
The Stephen McKee-trained runner is a past winner of the Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley and that experience helps.
There has been some solid betting support at a big price and she’s worth following for one more run.
