Moonee Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:30) Ladbrokes Same Race Multi BM84 (1200m)
#3 – How Wowmantic – Bet Now
How Wowmantic won her first four starts before running eighth at Flemington last start. She could return in fine order and we’re expecting big money to come her way.
The four-year-old scored a 1.8-length win on this track in January and having that track experience will do her plenty of good.
Drawing barrier two is ideal and she looks the testing material.
Race 2. (13:05) PFD Food Services BM78 (1600m)
#2 – Skyman – Bet Now
Skyman is unbeaten from two Australian starts and the five-year-old looks a nice type in the making.
He scored by 2.3 lengths at Caulfield two back before winning narrowly at Flemington. It is good form for this race and he should be respected in betting markets.
Drawing wide and having his first run around The Valley are the only negatives.
Race 3. (13:40) Drummond Golf Handicap (1500m)
#2 – Flinders River – Bet Now
Flinders River is a two-time winner from seven starts and he didn’t lose any admirers when running third last start.
The son of Fighting Sun has had two starts at this track, which is good experience, and he demands respect at this level.
Punters should get each-way odds and they’re worth snapping up.
Race 4. (14:15) Powerflo Solutions Handicap (1600m)
#3 – Odeon – Bet Now
Odeon is coming off a tough run in heavy conditions but he enjoys dry racing surfaces and gets one here.
The seven-year-old by Zacinto is a past winner second-up and although he’s not the most consistent runner in the field, he is always a threat.
Each-way odds will be available, so take the value on offer.
Race 5. (14:50) Strathmore Bendigo Bank (1200m)
#6 – Showmanship @ $1.95 – Bet Now
Showmanship is gunning for six consecutive wins and that is some record to boast. The Williams-trained gelding scored nicely at Caulfield last start and that form stacks up nicely.
He is based in Perth, so winning his first race in Melbourne is a good sign and The Valley should hold no fears.
William Pike takes the ride from barrier three and the $1.95 should shorten.
Race 6. (15:30) Mitty’s McEwen Stakes (1000m)
#9 – Rulership @ $10 – Bet Now
Rulership couldn’t get clear air at Caulfield last week and there was plenty of merit in the run for third.
The three-year-old colt gets an easy run from barrier three and dropping in weight to 52kg makes him very tough to beat.
We are surprised at the double-figure odds on offer, but we will happily take them.
Race 7. (16:10) Ready2race Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m)
#4 – Aidensfield @ $4 – Bet Now
The unbeaten three-year-old filly looks capable of rising through the grades and the connections clearly think something of it.
She scored a 1.3-length win on debut before careering away for a 3.5-length win at Sandown. Both wins instill confidence and they haven’t picked an easy resuming run, which is a good sign.
We are expecting her current odds to firm throughout the week.
Race 8. (16:45) Ladbrokes Feehan Stakes (1600m)
#8 – Harbour Views @ $3.90 – Bet Now
Harbour Views is a talented six-year-old that owns six wins from 10 starts. He scored a 2.3-length win on this track two back and that is a good betting guide.
It shows that he likes racing around this tight track and with John Allen in the saddle, he should get a good run throughout.
It is a tough field but Harbour Views always gives punters a good sight.
Race 9. (17:20) Lockdown Legends Handicap (2040m)
#12 – Skelm @ $8.50 – Bet Now
Skelm can be tough to follow but he is worth following at the odds. The six-year-old is a four-time winner and he made good ground at Moonee Valley last month.
He gets a month between runs here and after drawing barrier three, he should be able to settle closer to the pace.
$8.50 is a price worth taking in the last.
