We have expert betting tips for the card this Wednesday at Mornington that features eight quality betting races.
Mornington gets a rare standalone midweek meeting and we have our best value bets available.
Mornington horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (13:00) Highview Accounting Mornington Maiden (2025m)
#3 – Prosecutor @ $1.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Prosecutor is getting close to a win after notching three placings from 10 career starts.
The four-year-old finished second at Kyneton and Moe before running only 1.4 lengths behind some smart types at Cranbourne.
That form bodes well and although at short odds, he should give punters a good sight.
Race 2. (13:35) Cranbourne Fencing Maiden (1200m)
#11 – Lariat @ $4.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Maher/Eustace-trained filly has been well-backed to win and punters shouldn’t overlook her chances.
She ran fourth at Sandown on debut behind Our Playboy, before returning this season with a third placing at Traralgon.
Drawing barrier five helps and there is confidence in the market.
Race 3. (14:10) Modtech Maiden (1200m)
#1 – Ain’t She Cute @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The daughter of No Nay Never owns two placings from three starts and it won’t take her long to breakthrough.
She finished second in a strong maiden race at Cranbourne and she won’t find this race any harder than that.
$4.80 is a value price for a runner with plenty of upside.
Race 4. (14:45) Thebigscreencompany Maiden (1500m)
#2 – Blazing Rebel @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Blazing Rebel didn’t show much on debut but he quickly improved to finish second at Traralgon last time out.
Trained by David Brideoake, the son of Rebel Raider was only a narrow margin away from breaking through and big money has come on this occasion.
He opened at $4.20, but that price was taken immediately.
Race 5. (15:20) Musk Creek Farm C1 Handicap (2025m)
#1 – Masterkindu @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Henry Dwyer lines up Masterkindu, which turned his form around when scoring at Mornington last time out.
The son of Mastercraftsman exited maiden ranks with a 1.3-length win and he could repeat the dose against a moderate field.
Dropping in distance is a strange tactic, but punters get value odds.
Race 6. (15:55) Racetrack Vet Services BM70 (2025m)
#1 – Diamondsandbubbles @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Diamondsandbubbles looks set to record her fifth career win following a tidy effort for second at Mornington.
The Brideoake-trained mare finished second behind Kenya, which has since taken on tough company on Saturday at Sandown.
Getting 3kg off her back is ideal and she looks tough to beat.
Race 7. (16:30) Neds BM70 (1500m)
#1 – Capodanno @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Capadanno looks like a great bet at the odds and we are expecting his odds to firm on race day.
The former Kiwi owns quality form across the Tasman and he looked impressive when placing at Bendigo last time out.
That came behind Mrs Beckham and that form should be too good for this field. Therefore, the $5 is a terrific value price and punters should snap it up.
Race 8. (17:05) Oasis Turf BM64 (1200m)
#3 – Fundraiser @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Fundraiser has been scratched numerous times already this season, but the patience could finally pay off on Wednesday.
We’re not sure why he has been scratched, but Lindsay Park know how to place their runners and there is good market confidence this time around.
The son of Helmet has finished in the money in three of his five starts and he could add another excellent performance to his record.
