We have expert betting tips for the card this Saturday at Morphettville that features nine quality betting races.
The Port Adelaide Guineas takes centre stage in South Australia and we have our best value bets at the ready.
Morphettville horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:36) Happy 90th Birthday C Wilson BM82 (1200m)
#1 – Designer Chef @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Mark Webb-trained gelding is in winning form with six wins from 14 career starts. He scored at Morphettville last start and that form stacks up well.
We thought he would have favourite for this race, so punters get value odds. He can handle the big weight and be tough to beat on Saturday.
Race 2. (13:11) Tab BM72 (2025m)
#3 – Blue Ocean @ $4.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Blue Ocean has yet to win this preparation but it’s only a matter of time before he breaks through.
The four-year-old son of Ocean Park finished second at Sandown last start and Victorian form stacks up well in Adelaide.
2kg comes off his back and he gets the inside barrier.
Race 3. (13:46) Happy 60th Birthday S Hill BM70 (1615m)
#2 – River Twain @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet
River Twain runs at nice odds and he will appreciate the drop in class after running at Flemington and Moonee Valley.
The three-year-old son of Headwater owns three wins and three second placings, so he’s capable of putting this field bed.
His run for fourth at The Valley was classy and he should go close here.
Race 4. (14:21) AAMI Dequetteville Stakes (1050m)
#2 – Translation @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Most of the money has come for Translation, which comes off a tidy win at Cranbourne last month.
The James Cummings-trained filly scored by 3.5 lengths to break her maiden status and she could kick on with the job.
Jessica Eaton rides and we expect the odds to firm on race day.
Race 5. (15:02) Autumn Racing Carnival BM76 (1600m)
#1 – Astraeus @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The four-year-old isn’t the most consistent runner in the world but he is dangerous on his day.
He is a four-time winner from only 20 starts, so he knows how to win and he showed that when scoring twice earlier this season.
$5.50 is worth taking and those odds should stay steady throughout the week.
Race 6. (15:46) South Beef BM60 (1520m)
#1 – Cannot Be Serios @ $17 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Cannot Be Serios hasn’t fired this preparation but we wouldn’t rule him out because of the big odds.
The seven-year-old son of Rios has won with two runs under his belt and this isn’t the strongest field. He loves the track and distance and punters love the odds.
Take the $17 and know you’re backing a quality type.
Race 7. (16:26) Port Adelaide Guineas (1800m)
#1 – Let’s Karaka Deal @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Maher/Eustace-trained colt was only narrowly beaten at Mornington last start and he is a nice type in the making.
He finished fifth in the Victorian Derby just two starts ago, so he is working his way back up in distance.
1800m is ideal and punters get value odds worth taking. $6.50 for a quality runner is good shopping.
Race 8. (17:01) Furphy BM68 (1200m)
#3 – Midnight Storm @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Midnight Storm comes off a win at Morphettville Parks and his form prior included three consecutive placings on this track.
The seven-year-old has experience on his side and with 3kg coming off his back, we’re not surprised at the short odds available.
Expect another big effort from the favourite.
Race 9. (17:40) Barossa Fine Foods BM60 (1100m)
#4 – Eau Chaude @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Barrier 15 will make it tough for the favourite, but he has more upside than most runners in this field.
The three-year-old son of Headwater won by 2.5 lengths on debut at Mornington before finishing third at The Valley behind Written Beauty.
That’s stellar form for this race and he should win with luck on his side.
