Morphettville horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:50) Winning Edge Presentation BM64 (1100m)
#1 – Taken Off @ $2.60 – Bet Now
Phillip Stokes lines up the four-year-old gelding that owns two wins from three career starts.
The son of Toorak Toff gets some help with his big weight and although unraced since December, he has quality on his side.
It could pay to watch betting markets with this runner.
Race 2. (12:26) AAMI Maiden Plate (1200m)
#11 – French Fields – Bet Now
French Fields improved her form considerably when second last start. The three-year-old filly was only 1.3 lengths behind the winner, which is better than her early form.
This stable knows how to train winners in Adelaide and carrying 54.5kg on her back should see her go close.
Race 3. (13:01) G.H. Mumm Maiden (1200m)
#3 – Jimmy Witha Dash – Bet Now
Jimmy Witha Dash is a four-year-old that hasn’t made the best start to his career but he has shown potential.
The son of Jimmy Choux ran second at Gawler in March and he has since faced tough fields at Morphettville and Sandown.
Look for each-way odds on race day.
Race 4. (13:36) Don ‘Nobby’ Hall Memorial Handicap (1600m)
#6 – Analytica @ $2.40 – Bet Now
Travis Doudle lines up the talented gelding that owns six wins and four placings from 22 starts.
The five-year-old son of Shocking is a past winner on this track and with two wins over this distance, he looks a good chance for this.
He gets the inside draw with 54kg on his back and that makes him tough to hold out.
Race 5. (14:16) Schweppes BM68 (1519m)
#1 – Secret Vega – Bet Now
Secret Vega has yet to fire from three attempts at Morphettville but he is coming off facing tough fields in Melbourne.
The Lloyd Kennewell-trained five-year-old hasn’t been firing of late but he did win by five lengths at Pakenham in May.
He gets some weight off his back and that will help.
Race 6. (14:56) 36 Degrees South Beef BM68 (1200m)
#3 – Ruler By Choice @ $2.50 – Bet Now
Ruler by Choice is a potentially classy type that has recorded three wins from her first seven starts.
The four-year-old mare won by a length at Murray Bridge last start and she owns valuable experience behind the likes of How Wowmantic and Lunar Light.
$2.50 is a fair opening price from bookmakers and punters should climb into it.
Race 7. (15:36) Furphy BM58 Handicap (1050m)
#7 – Nature Deel – Bet Now
Nature Deel scored narrowly on debut after leading throughout and she was tough in the run to the line.
Trained by Phillip Stokes, the mare by Dundeel has had two trials since and she gets some weight coming off her back.
This race is there for the taking and Nature Deel looks a nice type.
Race 8. (16:16) Tab BM72 (1800m)
#1 – Dr Dependable @ $8 – Bet Now
Dr Dependable performed much better when second last time out at Murray Bridge and he could score an overdue win.
The six-year-old son of Rebel Raider owns five placings from eight starts on this track and he deserves a winning turn at Morphettville.
$8 is good value for punters and those odds could shorten to around $5 on race day.
Race 9. (16:56) Fleurieu Milk Company BM58 (1600m)
#10 – The Olympian – Bet Now
The Olympian was three lengths behind the winner when second last start but he will be winning a race shortly.
He is in good hands and as he gets more experienced, he should strengthen up nicely and be tough to handle.
Barend Vorster takes the ride and that should give punters confidence.
Race 10. (17:30) Barossa Fine Foods BM68 (1200m)
#8 – Royalty @ $4.40 – Bet Now
Royalty is another good runner from the McEvoy stable and he has finished in the first two home in five of his 10 starts.
The son of Fastnet Rock won by 1.3 lengths at Murray Bridge two starts back before missing by a nose last time out.
He will be out to make amends for that narrow defeat on Saturday.
