Morphettville horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:48) Aramis Plate (1050m)

#1 – Out of Africa @ $1.65 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Out of Africa was too slick for them on debut at Morphettville and we like her chances of remaining unbeaten.

The two-year-old filly scored by just under a length and she took plenty of late betting support, which could be the case again.

She has been heavily backed to score, so put her on top.

Race 2. (13:23) Thomas Farms BM60 (1600m)

#1 – Lake’s Folly @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Lake’s Folly is getting closer to notching another win after three placings from his last five starts.

The five-year-old gelding is better suited in rain-affected conditions, but he doesn’t meet an overly strong field on Saturday.

3kg comes off his back and we’re happy with the $3.10.

Race 3. (13:58) The Phoenix BM72 (1600m)

#9 – Zoulah @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Zoulah didn’t fire fresh up on this track but we’re prepared to give the five-year-old mare another chance.

The daughter of Zoustar owns two wins and three placings at this distance, so she has no problems with the rise in distance.

Carrying 54.5kg is ideal and it brings her into contention.

Race 4. (14:33) Boxing Day Morphettville Maiden (1100m)

#9 – Rushaway Lad @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Looking to cap off consecutive placings is Rushaway Lad, who ran second at this track on debut.

The three-year-old son of Barbados was under a length behind the winner and he followed it up with a placing behind Vintage Folly last start.

This looks like his best chance to get the job done.

Race 5. (15:12) Metal-Link Legends BM68 (2008m)

#5 – I Am News @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Most of the early money has come for I Am News, who comes off a win at Sandown as a double-figure chance.

The four-year-old gelding has already won twice in Victoria this season, so we’re keen on his chances to win again.

Barrier 11 doesn’t make it easy, but he has time to find cover.

Race 6. (15:52) Team Grand Join BM60 (1200m)

#3 – Point Blaze @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Point Blaze owns two wins and five placings from 15 starts, and we like her chances of winning.

The daughter of Shamus Award scored both of her wins over this distance and one of them came at Morphettville.

Getting the inside draw is key over this distance, so we’re happy to take the $4 available with bookmakers.

Race 7. (16:32) Twilight Races at Morphettville BM68 (1100m)

#5 – See You in Spring @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet

See You in Spring isn’t the most consistent runner going around, but the three-year-old filly is talented at her best.

The filly scored at Cranbourne three starts back before running behind General Beau and Brownie in two tough races in Melbourne.

Dropping in class helps and she could see immediate results.

Race 8. (17:12) Adelaide Galvanising Xmas Handicap (1200m)

#6 – Rock the Ring @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Rock the Ring scored three consecutive wins before finishing second at Morphettville last time out.

The four-year-old gelding is a smart type and with three wins from four starts at the track, we’re not surprised at his odds.

He missed by only a nose last start, so expect him to go one better.

Race 9. (17:52) Peter Elberg Funerals BM60 (1050m)

#3 – Hello Ladies @ $4.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Hello Ladies is only a one-time winner from six starts, but he has promised to deliver many more wins.

The four-year-old didn’t fire last time out, but he looked much better when recording consecutive placings on this track.

Punters should enjoy the $4.60 available.
