Morphettville horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:46) Adelaide Galvanising Handicap (1250m)
#7 – Beauty – Bet Now
Beauty is well-weighted at 54kg and the former Melbourne-winning mare should be able to return to form in the first.
Trained by Team McEvoy, the four-year-old was a winner at Moonee Valley two back and her best form should be too good for them. The 54kg on her back helps greatly.
Race 2. (13:21) Furphy Maiden Plate (1000m)
#12 – Sheza Little Posh – Bet Now
The grey three-year-old filly went close at Morphettville last start and she could turn consistent form into winning form. She tried hard to gun down the leader but came up just short on the line.
It was an encouraging effort from the daughter of Barbados and although this field is talented, she deserves her chance.
Race 3. (13:56) Schweppes R58 Handicap (1000m)
#4 – Miracleofmiracles – Bet Now
The four-year-old mare wouldn’t need a miracle to win this race, just a repeat effort of her win at Murray Bridge.
She sat on the speed and edged out the victory to post her first career win. It should give her plenty of confidence going forward and Gary Lo takes the ride from barrier two.
Punters should back her with confidence.
Race 4. (14:31) Happy 40th Lynda BM78 (2400m)
#2 – Flow Meter – Bet Now
Flow Meter scored nicely two starts back and although beaten last start, he wasn’t overly far away from them late in the race.
He’s a 10-year-old, so he’s not getting any younger. However, there are no superstars in this staying field and he could take advantage.
Enjoy the juicy odds and root for the old boy to win.
Race 5. (15:06) Happy Birthday Tony BM72 (1000m)
#1 – Mum’s My Hero – Bet Now
Mum’s My Hero continued his good form when scoring at Morphettville in heavy conditions last start. The half-length win was a good effort up against a short-priced favourite.
He’s going to enjoy running off the inside draw for this race and it gives Gary Lo another tidy ride on the card.
He is capable of winning three of his last four starts, so keep him safe.
Race 6. (15:41) Metal-Link BM68 (1400m)
#1 – Wedgetail – Bet Now
Team McEvoy lines up the three-year-old which is looking to bounce back after running eighth at Caulfield last start. That run came behind Microphone, so he was entitled to finish where he did.
He owns the class edge over this field with 10 starts for one win and six placings. Those have come against some solid fields in Melbourne and it bodes well for this race.
He must go on top of selections.
Race 7. (16:21) Tab BM68 (1250m)
#9 – Holy Dancer – Bet Now
Shooting for her third consecutive win is Holy Dancer, which scored an all-the-way win on this track last start.
The Phillip Stokes-trained filly has shown good barrier speed since resuming from a spell and that habit will win her many races. Punters should expect her to settle in a handy position once again.
Race 8. (17:01) Adelaide Cup Day BM78 (1400m)
#5 – Roselli Sting – Bet Now
Roselli Sting scored narrowly at Gawler two starts back and backed that up with a last-start placing on this track. He is an experienced type with 66 starts for eight wins and 22 placings.
He is running in good form of late, having not finished worse than third at his last five starts. That form should be good enough to be competitive against this level of opposition.
Race 9. (17:41) AAMI BM64 (1400m)
#4 – Magic Reward – Bet Now
Magic Reward was good enough to score back-to-back wins before running a length behind the winner last start. She sat on the speed and kicked strongly to just miss, which should be a good form guide for this race.
She’s a four-year-old mare that has finished out of the money in only two of her 10 starts. She’s consistent and worth including.
