Morphettville horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:50) Fleurieu Milk Company BM82 (1950m)
#2 – Box On Collins – Bet Now
Box On Collins made impressive ground when running third at Murray Bridge last start and facing the small field should help.
The McEvoy-trained five-year-old has finished in the money in 13 of his 19 starts and he has every chance of going close.
Bookmakers should have him well-found in the market.
Race 2. (12:25) Dominant BM82 (1000m)
#4 – Be My Star – Bet Now
Form is with Be My Star, which scored a narrow win on this track two back and followed it up with a fourth placing.
She’s trained by Will Clarken and he often gets his runners primed for a big run. Her best form comes at Morphettville and she can use the inside draw to her advantage.
There isn’t much to this field and she has the goods to take advantage of them.
Race 3. (13:00) Furphy Maiden Plate (1000m)
#7 – Flirting – Bet Now
Flirting is flirting with a win after placing in six of her eight career starts. The Anthony Freedman-trained filly ran third at Echuca last start and that form stacks up nicely.
She gets into this race with only 55.5kg on her back and that is another positive in her corner. Jockey Lachlan Neindorf should be able to find a good spot for her to launch a claim.
Look for relatively short odds from bookmakers.
Race 4. (13:40) Winning Edge Presentation BM64 (1000m)
#2 – Japery – Bet Now
Japery showed off his true ability when winning at Sale last week and he can win back-to-back races.
The Patrick Payne-trained two-year-old defeated a good field on Wednesday and he looks like a type that could rise through the grades.
He was able to turn his form around nicely and he should be able to go on with it now.
Race 5. (14:20) Pike & Joyce BM66 (1300m)
#1 – Lake’s Folly @ $4.20 – Bet Now
Lake’s Folly got too far out of its ground at Sale and being on the quick back-up could be what he’s looking for.
The Freedman-trained gelding was a big winner prior to that at Sale, where he was able to pick up the field with ease in the straight.
He tried the same tactics last start but was given a herculean task in the straight. Expect a bounce-back effort here.
Race 6. (15:00) Barossa Fine Foods BM68 (1300m)
#3 – Really Discreet @ $2.40 – Bet Now
It was a deserved and overdue win for Really Discreet last start and she’s more than capable of going back-to-back.
The Phillip Stokes-trained filly won rather easily in the straight after getting blocked for a run midway down the straight.
This field isn’t too much harder and she could strike again.
Race 7. (15:40) Caudo Vinyard Handicap (1550m)
#9 – Open Minded @ $3.80 – Bet Now
Open Minded won his first three career starts before running fifth at Sandown and third at Murray Bridge.
His last two efforts have been only fair, but the son of Jimmy Choux shows good barrier speed and he gets into this race nicely on the weights.
He carries 55kg from the inside draw and that bodes well for an improved run.
Race 8. (16:11) Terry Howe Printing BM64 (1250m)
#3 – Beeokay – Bet Now
Beeokay is a consistent type that scored a win at Gawler three back before running back-to-back placings.
The five-year-old is always well-backed to win and that should be the case once again this Saturday. He gets the inside draw and a senior rider in the saddle.
Expect a big effort from the reliable type.
Race 9. (16:50) Tab BM62 Handicap (1400m)
#12 – Four of a Kind – Bet Now
Phillip Stokes lines up the capable filly that has won two of her last three races. The daughter of Eurozone made up massive ground to score at Gawler and that form bodes well.
Getting an inside draw is ideal and she has the best form of any runner coming into this race.
Punters could get each-way odds and they’ll be worth taking.
