Morphettville horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:15) Without Fear Stakes (1050m)
#4 – Translation @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The James Cummings-trained two-year-old scored a win at Cranbourne two back before finishing second at Morphettville last start.
She wasn’t far behind the winner but it was a tidy effort and she should be fitter for the outing. Getting William Pike in the saddle helps and 55.5kg on her back is ideal.
Punters should expect a strong effort from the favourite.
Race 2. (12:50) G.H. Mumm BM82 (1600m)
#1 – Lord Vladivostok @ $1.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Michael Hickmott-trained gelding was beaten last start but that came in a tough race where the form stacks up nicely.
He is a son of Tavistock that scored back-to-back wins prior to that and running on this track is ideal for the four-year-old.
Barrier 10 shouldn’t worry him much and we’re not surprised at the short odds.
Race 3. (13:25) D C McKay Stakes (1100m)
#5 – Pandemic @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Pandemic is a smart sprinter that needs to be forgiven after running down the track behind Signore Fox last time out.
The Cummings-trained four-year-old is a three-time winner at this distance and dropping to 54kg should be ideal for this level of opposition.
It’s another good ride for Pike and he could get the job done.
Race 4. (14:00) Port Adelaide Cup (2500m)
#5 – Wyclif @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Wyclif comes off a third placing at Caulfield and that staying form should stack up brilliantly in Adelaide.
The four-year-old owns two wins and three placings from nine starts and although he doesn’t have recent winning form, he could take this out.
55.5kg on his back is ideal and punters should expect a competitive effort.
Race 5. (14:35) Queen of the South Stakes (1600m)
#2 – Fabric @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Danny O’Brien-trained five-year-old is a five-time winner from 22 starts and she wasn’t far behind a smart type last time out.
She finished second behind Missile Mantra in a competitive race and she should improve with the fitness under her belt.
It’s her first start at Morphettville but the track should suit.
Race 6. (15:15) Tobin Breeze Stakes (1200m)
#2 – Beau Rossa @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Beau Rossa was beaten by a nose last start but with a better ride, he could have won his third consecutive race.
The three-year-old had won at Sandown prior to that by seven lengths and anything close to that performance will be enough here.
Most of the early money has come for Beau Rossa and we’re expecting a bounce-back effort.
Race 9. (17:10) Bill Spear OAM Memorial BM64 (1200m)
#10 – Euphoric Summer @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The favourite should give punters a good sight and she had to do it tough after settling wide throughout at Cranbourne.
She is a capable three-year-old filly that should have won more than one race, but she gets a perfect chance to do so here.
Having Damien Oliver in the saddle is ideal and we’re not surprised at the early money coming her way. Her current $5 quote could firm considerably on race day.
