Morphettville horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:17) Thomas Farms BM82 (1600m)

#9 – Eagles Crag @ $2.80 – Bet @ Neds

Eagles Crag owns three wins from six starts and that form stacks up nicely in Adelaide.

He comes off a disappointing run at Caulfield behind Saltpeter, but his form prior was excellent and he should find this level of racing easier.

Carrying 55kg and Jamie Kah in the saddle is a bonus.

Race 2. (12:47) G.H. Mumm BM64 (1200m)

#11 – Mask Up @ $3.60 – Bet @ Neds

Mask Up scored on debut at Donald by 2.8 lengths and anything close to that form should be good enough.

The four-year-old son of Real Impact opened at $3.80 and he has been well-backed to score, which is always a good sign.

Having Craig Williams in the saddle adds to our confidence.

Race 3. (13:27) Without Fear Stakes (1050m)

#3 – Aitch Two Oh @ $2.45 – Bet @ Neds

Aitch Two Oh won her first two starts before finishing second at Morphettville behind See You in Heaven, who has since won a big race.

The two-year-old daughter of Headwater is in good hands, and despite drifting a touch with bookmakers, she is the one they all have to beat.

We’re happy with the $2.45 and that’s a generous price for the favourite.

Race 4. (14:02) Port Adelaide Cup (2500m)

#4 – Designs @ $3.60 – Bet @ Neds

Designs is shooting for three consecutive wins after scoring at Cranbourne and Morphettville, so she has every chance to win again.

The four-year-old mare is unbeaten in two starts over the distance and carrying 54kg with Jamie Kah in the saddle is a steal.

There has been solid betting support and we’re not surprised.

Race 5. (14:37) Tobin Breeze Stakes (1200m)

#1 – Marine One @ $3.30 – Bet @ Neds

Marine One is a classy colt and he has many more wins in store over the course of his career.

The Maher/Eustace-trained colt owns four wins from 10 starts, including a win over older horses at Caulfield in February.

A repeat of that effort sees him winning by a couple of lengths and the odds are worth snapping up.

Race 6. (15:12) Queen of the South Stakes (1600m)

#4 – Tokorangi @ $9 – Bet @ Neds

The former New Zealand runner showed her class when winning at Caulfield and she could have gone from strength to strength.

She scored by a half-length over Vasmee and she also finished only 2.9 lengths behind the winner in the New Zealand Derby, which is an excellent form guide.

There is some trepidation in betting markets but we’re happy with the $9.

Race 7. (15:52) D C McKay Stakes (1100m)

#4 – Beau Rossa @ $5 – Bet @ Neds

The confidence levels of Beau Rossa have dipped somewhat after a fruitless campaign, but he could fire up on Saturday.

The four-year-old gelding owns five wins and four placings from 15 starts, so the class is there and three of those wins have come at Morphettville.

Barrier two is ideal and he should push forward and be tough to hold out.

Race 9. (17:05) Furphy BM64 (1050m)

#15 – I Am Bene @ $3.50 – Bet @ Neds

I Am Bene couldn’t have been more impressive on debut when scoring by 3.5 lengths and that form could continue.

The three-year-old filly paid an odds-on price when scoring at Gawler and getting the inside draw for this run should see her land on the speed.

Her odds are drifting, which is a surprise, but we’ll take the value price.
