We have expert betting tips for the card this Saturday at Morphettville that features nine quality betting races.
The South Australian Derby takes centre stage and we have our best value bets for every race.
Morphettville horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:10) Accolade Wines BM62 (1000m)
#2 – Star of Uma @ $2.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Star of Uma is a quality type that runs best fresh up, so she should be ready to fire on Saturday.
The three-year-old filly is a two-time winner from five starts and she always shows good barrier speed, which is a positive.
Expect another top effort in the opener.
Race 2. (12:45) South Australia Sires’ Produce (1400m)
#9 – Cloudy @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Cloudy comes off consecutive wins on the track and we wouldn’t be overlooking her chances of success.
The James Cummings-trained two-year-old scored against a similar field last start and getting the inside draw for this race is ideal.
$5.50 is well worth taking and those odds should firm.
Race 3. (13:20) P Elberg Funerals Final BM82 (1400m)
#6 – Going Gaga @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Going Gaga kicked off his campaign with a win at Oakbank and although meeting harder opposition here, his confidence levels should be up.
The seven-year-old is a three-time winner on this track and a five-time winner at the distance, so there is plenty to get excited about.
$7 is a value price.
Race 4. (13:55) Happy B’Day M Larecki BM82 (1200m)
#2 – Designer Chef @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Mark Webb lines up the five-year-old gelding that owns six wins and five placings from just 16 starts.
The consistent son of Master of Design didn’t fire at Caulfield last time out, but his best form comes in South Australia and having Damien Oliver in the saddle helps.
Expect a tidy effort at each-way odds.
Race 5. (14:30) Welso Security BM64 (1050m)
#1 – Balle D’or @ $15 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Value is with Balle D’or, which doesn’t need a run to show its best. The six-year-old mare owns two fresh up wins and her best form would be good enough.
She is a six-time winner that is having her first start at Morphettville, but that shouldn’t worry her in the slightest.
3kg comes off her back and that helps.
Race 6. (15:10) Furphy Series Final BM75 (1800m)
#7 – Reynolds @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Reynolds scored back-to-back wins prior to running third at Murray Bridge last start and he could get back to his best form.
The five-year-old is unbeaten at his only start at Morphettville and punters have backed him in early betting markets.
The $3.20 could continue to firm throughout the week.
Race 8. (16:30) Adelaide Guineas (1600m)
#1 – Cherry Tortoni @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Cherry Tortoni is a class runner that has yet to finish worse than second in three starts at the distance.
The three-year-old gelding finished fifth at Rosehill behind Yaletown in the Guineas and that form stacks up nicely in this company.
$2.40 is a fair price for a quality type.
Race 9. (17:05) Terry Howe Printing Final BM82 (1100m)
#1 – Streetcar Stranger @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Streetcar Stranger comes off a win and although he’s yet to win from three attempts at Morphettville, he has come close.
The four-year-old gelding is rarely too far away from the prize and with a 3kg claimer in the saddle, he should be tough to beat again.
We’re expecting plenty of big bets to come his way.
