Morphettville horse racing tips
Race 1. (12:01) Schweppes BM64 (1000m)
#1 – The General @ $5.50 – Bet Now
The General carries top weight but he owns a win in rating 70 grade and this is easier. He’s a son of Charm Spirit that was beaten as the odds-on favourite last start, but it’s a good form guide.
He’s a speedy colt and the big weight shouldn’t matter too much over this distance. He gets some weight off his back and every bit helps.
The $5.50 is a value price.
Race 2. (12:36) SA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m)
#7 – Ecumenical @ $2.50 – Bet Now
The two-year-old filly has been winning nicely this season and she’s the form runner of this field. Her 2.3-length win at Morphettville last start was effortless and she could do it again.
Her only defeat came when she had no luck after travelling wide throughout. She should be unbeaten from four starts and the $2.50 is a fair price.
We’re expecting another big effort from Ecumenical.
Race 3. (13:11) Autumn Series Final (1400m)
#2 – One More Jack @ $3.50 – Bet Now
One More Jack continues to win and it’s no wonder that he opened as favourite. The four-year-old faces a harder task here but he has won six consecutive races this preparation.
After showing nothing at his first two starts, it has been quite some turnaround in form. His opposition here is much harder but it’s hard not to like this runner.
Race 4. (13:51) Holdfast Brokers BM64 (1050m)
#4 – Sidestreet – Bet Now
Ryan Balfour lines up the gelding that scored handsomely last start and he could continue in that form.
He is a son of Bel Esprit, so he’s bred to sprint, and he has made a nice start to his career. It will be his first start on this track, which is a concern, but he’s worth sticking with.
Drawing barrier three should ensure that he gets a good run throughout.
Race 5. (14:31) Adelaide Galvanising BM75 (1800m)
#2 – Sasun @ $8.50 – Bet Now
The winning run of Sasun came to an end last start but he didn’t lose any admirers. He went down by just under a length after being well off the pace approaching the turn.
His win prior to that was tremendous and although he’s having his 51st start, he still has a great turn-of-foot to use.
$8.50 is great value against an even field.
Race 6. (15:11) Adelaide Guineas (1600m)
#6 – Kooweerup @ $3.20 – Bet Now
We thought Kooweerup would return to form last start and although beaten, she ran nicely for third at Flemington.
The Maher/Eustace-trained three-year-old flashed home late and she put the writing on the wall. If she repeats that effort, she’ll be tough to hold out here.
She gets 55.5kg on her back from a good barrier, so keep her safe.
Race 7. (15:51) Kangaroo Island Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Terbium @ $5.50 – Bet Now
We’re prepared to give Terbium one more chance based on what he showed early on. The Phillip Stokes-trained gelding hasn’t been himself as an older horse, but returning to his home track could help.
He’s a winner of four from 11 starts, with those four wins coming at his first four starts. He went well two back and he’s getting one more chance because of the odds.
Race 9. (17:10) Gerard SA Sprint BM80 (1100m)
#4 – Seemingly Discreet @ $5.50 – Bet Now
Seemingly Discreet keeps winning and she would be shorter in the betting if she drew a good barrier.
The three-year-old has won four consecutive races and she looks a nice type in the making. Winning this race is beyond her and punters are getting value odds.
She does need luck from the draw but she can settle back and wind up late in the race.
