Morphettville horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:47) Zonte’s Footstep BM72 (1550m)

#1 – Noname Lane @ $1.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Noname Lane is always around the mark and the five-year-old gelding meets a field there for the taking.

The son of Shamus Award won at Morphettville two back before running a half-length behind the winner in open company.

Dropping in class should see him right around the mark.

Race 2. (13:22) Port Adelaide F.C. Maiden (1250m)

#11 – Totally Discreet @ $2.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet

We expect the three-year-old filly to be winning shortly. The Phillip Stokes-trained daughter of Territories finished second last start, which is a good guide.

She was only a half-length behind the winner and with only 55.5kg on her back, she won’t get a better chance to break through.

The $2.30 could firm into an odds-on quote on debut.

Race 3. (13:57) Hender Consulting Maiden (1000m)

#2 – Johnny Thunder @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Johnny Thunder is looking to cap off consecutive second placings with a win. The Will Clarken-trained gelding owns six placings from 11 starts, so he has been right around the mark.

The son of Nostradamus went down fighting last time out and a repeat of that effort should see him winning on Saturday.

The early betting support isn’t a surprise, so put him on top.

Race 4. (14:32) RSL Care Romani BM60 (1000m)

#1 – Larkham @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Larkham hasn’t been the most consistent runner this season, but the five-year-old gelding likes this track.

He owns two wins and three placings from eight starts at Morphettville, and we’re prepared to include him in selections.

Getting an apprentice claim helps and he could swoop on them late.

Race 5. (15:12) Claude Haigh Memorial BM82 (2500m)

#4 – Nobel Heights @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Nobel Heights is also nominated for the Cranbourne Cup, but if he lines up here, he will be tough to beat.

The four-year-old son of Fiorente scored a quality win over 2400m at Geelong last start, and we think he’s good enough to score again.

Running on a dry track would suit, so watch conditions.

Race 6. (15:52) Blooms The Chemist BM82 (1250m)

#1 – Terbium @ $3.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Terbium returned to form with a win at Morphettville last time out and he is good enough to go back-to-back.

The Stokes-trained son of Terango owns six wins overall, and some of those came against quality opposition in Melbourne.

Carrying 61kg isn’t easy, but his class should take him close.

Race 7. (16:32) Gary Radford Memorial BM60 (1950m)

#13 – Enlist @ $15 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Enlist is paying generous odds with bookmakers and although seventh last start, his win prior is a good betting guide.

The four-year-old gelding scored by a half-length against similar opposition, so there is no reason why he couldn’t handle this field.

If they go quickly up front, expect the $15 chance to be hitting the line hard.

Race 8. (17:12) Grand Syndicates Shares BM68 (1250m)

#11 – Chill with Teejay @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Chill with Teejay owns two wins and three placings from eight starts, so she hasn’t done much wrong throughout her career.

The Peter Hardacre-trained mare has yet to fire in two starts on this track, but she finished second behind Outpost last start, which is good form.

Punters get odds worth taking.

Race 9. (17:55) Jake Brown’s 50th BM60 (1400m)

#5 – Cuban State @ $2.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Cuban State scored a win on debut at Pakenham before running third at Cranbourne and seventh at Pakenham.

The McEvoy-trained son of Teofilo needed a spell following his last start, so he should come back a stronger type.

Barrier 13 will likely force him to settle handy and try cross to the rail.
