Morphettville horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (13:02) Zonte’s Footstep BM82 (1600m)
#5 – Thirsty Guest @ $2.40
Thirsty Guest scored consecutive wins earlier this preparation before adding consecutive placings.
The four-year-old son of So You Think owns four wins from 12 starts overall, and we’re happy with the odds available.
Carrying 55.5kg makes him tough to beat.
Race 2. (13:37) Boileau Business Technology BM72 (1800m)
#4 – Poison Chalice @ $2.10
Poison Chalice has drifted in betting markets, but he already owns three wins this preparation.
The four-year-old son of Savabeel opened at $1.80 before drifting to $2.10, but we’re not worried about that.
Take the short odds and include in selections.
Race 3. (14:12) Claude Haigh Memorial Maiden (1200m)
#2 – Even Sharper @ $11
Even Sharper hasn’t been too far away from the prize in six starts, including two second placings.
The three-year-old son of More Than Ready hasn’t been overly great in two runs this prep, but he doesn’t need to improve too much.
Getting 3kg off his back is a bonus.
Race 4. (14:47) Logi-Tech Handicap (1600m)
#1 – All So Clear @ $2.80
All So Clear won back-to-back races earlier this prep before running fifth at Bendigo.
The five-year-old son of So You Think has turned his form around nicely this time in, and his best form comes at the distance.
We’re not surprised by the money.
Race 5. (15:22) RSL Care BM66 (1200m)
#6 – Shootoose @ $3.50
Shootoose has attracted the most betting support following a quality second placing last time out.
The five-year-old gelding by Shooting to Win is only a two-time winner from 22 starts, but his form stacks up well.
Getting 1.5kg off his back adds to his appeal.
Race 6. (15:57) Legacy South Australia Broken Hill BM78 (2500m)
#1 – Long Arm @ $2.40
Long Arm is getting close to posting an overdue win after running fourth at Flemington last start.
The eight-year-old son of Rock of Gibraltar runs his best races at Morphettville, including a win and two placings.
Having a 3kg claimer riding helps.
Race 7. (16:37) Mark Lobert Gallery C2 (1539m)
#2 – Delightful Shecky @ $4.40
Delightful Shecky comes off a win at Balaklava, and his best form would be good enough for this race.
The four-year-old gelding by Delightful Choice runs his best races with Todd Pannell in the saddle, including three starts for a win and two placings.
We’re taking the each-way odds.
Race 8. (17:17) Gary Redford OAM Memorial BM68 (1100m)
#3 – Hope at Hand @ $7
Hope at Hand is a past second-up winner, and her best form comes at Morphettville.
The four-year-old mare by Impending is only a one-time winner overall, but she also owns eight placings.
Getting some weight off her back adds to her appeal.
Race 9. (17:59) Those We Serve Handicap (1050m)
#5 – La Defense @ $3.40
La Defense turned his form around when winning fresh up at Gawler, which is an excellent form guide.
The four-year-old gelding won by a length to break maiden grades and getting 1.5kg off his back helps.
We expect his odds to firm on race day.
