Morphettville horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:42) Wills & Daniel BM66 (1100m)

#1 – Karacasu @ $2.15 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Karacasu is a classy type who owns one win and three second placings from four starts. The Jolly-trained gelding ran second behind Heresy last start, which is an excellent form guide.

Despite opening at $1.95 and drifting in betting markets, we wouldn’t look past Karacasu. He could be in for a successful spring season, and it could start with a win on Saturday.

Race 2. (13:17) Fleurieu Milk Company C3 Handicap (1200m)

#3 – Enchantingly @ $1.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Enchantingly is shooting for three consecutive wins after scoring at Morphettville by 7.5 lengths in a romp last time out.

The five-year-old mare is in career-best form, and having winning experience on this track is ideal preparation.

We’re not surprised by the odds available.

Race 3. (13:52) Terry Howe Printing Maiden (1200m)

#12 – Ballynora @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Ballynora has been well-backed in early betting markets, which is always a good sign for a maiden runner.

The three-year-old filly by Fastnet Rock ran fifth behind a smart type last start and that form is good enough for this level of racing.

Her odds could firm considerably throughout the week.

Race 4. (14:30) Spring Racing at Morphettville BM68 (1050m)

#6 – Larkham @ $3.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Larkham hasn’t done much wrong from 10 race day starts, including three wins and four placings.

The five-year-old son of Sidestep owns a win at the track and distance, which bodes well for this race.

Barrier two is ideal and we’re not surprised by the early betting support. He looks to have a bright future and the good track conditions are ideal.

Race 5. (15:07) Quayclean BM74 (1200m)

#1 – Extra Mile @ $11 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Extra Mile scored back-to-back wins before running fourth at Morphettville last time out. His best racing comes at this track, including two wins and three placings.

Running fourth behind Lombardo is a solid effort and being on the one-week back up won’t do his chances any harm.

3kg comes off his back and punters get lovely odds.

Race 6. (15:47) Schild Estate BM72 (2000m)

#6 – Melody Man @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Melody Man has been in devastating form his last two starts, including a 3.3-length win at Morphettville last time out.

He paid $1.80 when winning, so punters are getting a good price on Saturday. We expect his odds to firm considerably, so take what’s on offer.

Race 7. (16:27) K Bradbrook Happy 50th BM64 (1600m)

#5 – Castle of Kings @ $4.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Castle of Kings scored an overdue win at Gawler last start and he looks capable of repeating the dose on Saturday.

The Clarken-trained four-year-old has yet to finish worse than third from five starts, so he has class and consistency on his side.

He also owns good tactical pace, so consider.

Race 8. (17:05) W H Wylie Handicap (1100m)

#7 – Terbium @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Terbium showed plenty of ability as a youngster and we’re prepared to give him a chance in this race.

The Phillip Stokes-trained six-year-old is a two-time winner fresh up, and despite not having good form at the track, he should be right around the mark.

54kg on his back could make all the difference.

Race 9. (17:40) Grand Syndicates BM60 (1100m)

#9 – Aston Rapova @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Aston Rapova was too good for them last start and we like his chances of going back-to-back.

The son of Nicconi scored comfortably by 1.8 lengths, so it showed he’s good enough to rise through the grades.

Having Barend Vorster in the saddle is a bonus.
