Morphettville racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:57) Nobody Does It Easier BM68 (1400m)
#2 – Rock the Bar @ $2.50
Rock the Bar has been around the mark recently, including a good win two back at Geelong before placing at Morphettville.
The four-year-old gelding for Danny O’Brien gets all favours off the inside draw with 1.5kg coming off his back, so there is upside.
Take the shortening odds in the opening race.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 2. (13:32) PFD Food Services (1550m)
#2 – Grid Girl @ $1.90
Winning form is with Grid Girl, who scored by two lengths at Ballarat last time out, which is a good form guide.
The four-year-old mare by Time Test looks well-placed in Adelaide and we’re not surprised by the shortening odds.
She should be tough to beat, so include her in horse racing multis.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 3. (14:07) Set a Deposit Limit Handicap (1000m)
#2 – Geminga @ $4.20
Each-way value is with Geminga, who owns a win and two placings from four fresh up attempts.
The Gary Boyce-trained mare has yet to fully fire in four attempts at Morphettville, but she has looked good enough in recent jumpouts.
She gets the inside draw and that could be the winning of the race.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 4. (14:42) Same Race Multi Maiden (1250m)
#2 – Novela @ $3.50
Novela has been close to posting a win after placing at Morphettville and Murray Bridge, and this is his time to shine.
The four-year-old will need some luck from an outside draw, but he is a maiden winner in the waiting and there are no superstars in this field.
We expect him to go close as the loose favourite.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 5. (15:17) Adelaide Galvanising Industries BM66 (1000m)
#2 – Sir Now @ $4.80
The three-year-old gelding hasn’t done much wrong in four career starts, including two wins and two placings.
He won at Morphettville in heavy conditions two back before placing behind Miss Cotoletta, which is a solid enough form guide.
Barrier two is ideal and punters should snap up the each-way odds.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 6. (15:52) Sportsbet BM68 (2250m)
#4 – Rabtat @ $4.40
Punters get each-way odds for Rabtat, who is much better than what he showed at Morphettville last time out.
The five-year-old son of Adelaide is a three-time winner from 24 starts, and he owns two placings from three starts at the track.
We’re happy to include him in picks against this field.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 7. (16:27) Croser C2 Handicap (1400m)
#2 – Dubai Focus @ $2.25
Dubai Focus is gunning for three consecutive wins after scoring at this track last time out by 2.5 lengths.
The three-year-old son of Pride of Dubai has made a positive start to his career, and although this is a harder field, he’s good enough to handle it.
Barrier four is ideal and he’s worth including in multis.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 8. (17:07) Charlie Hoile Handicap (1250m)
#6 – Tupoleu @ $6.50
Tupoleu was too good for them last time out, and although facing more depth in this field, we’re not leaving him out.
The six-year-old son of Air Force Blue owns a win and three placings from eight starts at the track, so he knows this course well.
We’re taking the $6.50 odds for value.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 9. (17:49) Skycity Handicap (1550m)
#10 – Right of Veto @ $2.50
Money has come for Right of Veto, who won fresh up at Oakbank before placing last time out at Morphettville behind Sabaj.
Sabaj has since placed in a tough race last Saturday, so the form checks out, and we thought her odds would be around $1.95 for this race.
Include the favourite in horse racing picks.
Stake: 2 Units
