Murray Bridge racing tips

Race 1. (12:29) Bryan Guy Memorial Plate (1000m)

#1 – Volstar @ $3.20

Money has come for Volstar, who won a trial at Gawler, which is always a good form guide for racing at Murray Bridge.

The two-year-old son of Graff won the trial by over a length, and after opening at $3.70, his odds have firmed considerably.

We expect him to be right around the mark in this race.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (13:00) Thomas Farms BM74 (1200m)

#3 – Princess Que @ $2.90

Boasting three wins and three placings from 10 starts is Princess Que, who found racing too tough at The Valley and Flemington last prep.

Coming to Murray Bridge should make life easier, and her best form comes over the distance with three wins.

Getting the inside draw is enough to take her close against this field.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 3. (13:35) Reg Nolan Life Member Maiden (1400m)

#6 – Rathlin Express @ $6.00

Each-way value is with Rathlin Express, who looks to score an overdue maiden win following two placings.

The three-year-old son of Zousain placed at Cranbourne and Sale, which is often good form for racing at this track.

Barrier 14 isn’t ideal, but he is good enough to overcome it.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (14:10) John Buhagiar Life Member BM64 (1100m)

#2 – Light the Night @ $4.00

Light the Night showed good speed when winning at Morphettville two back, and he wasn’t far away from the mark last time out.

The three-year-old son of Earthlight showed a good turn-of-foot when winning, and he could settle back and finish off strongly.

Take the each-way odds available.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (14:45) Chairman’s Choice BM78 (2000m)

#2 – Snoopy Now @ $3.10

Boasting two wins from his last four starts is Snoopy Now, who doesn’t often produce a bad effort.

The four-year-old owns four wins and eight placings from 19 starts, and a lot of his best form comes at Murray Bridge.

61kg isn’t easy to carry, but class should take him close.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 6. (15:20) Happy Nuptials Sweet & Stocco BM70 (1400m)

#3 – World’s My Oyster @ $4.80

World’s My Oyster owns three wins from four starts, including last time out at Morphettville.

The four-year-old mare by Charge Forward scored by a half-length as a $12 chance, and we’re not surprised by the shortening odds here.

Barrier nine makes it tricky, but it could finish best.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (15:57) Kym Thomas Life Member Handicap (1200m)

#9 – Major Rumble @ $4.00

Major Rumble hasn’t been too far away in two starts this preparation, and he didn’t get all favours last time out.

The four-year-old son of Capitalist won his only race at Murray Bridge, so coming back to this track could be enough to win.

Take the odds before late money comes for him.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (16:32) Garry March Life Member C2 (1200m)

#1 – Stokomo @ $6.00

Punters get value odds for Stokomo, who owns two wins and five placings from 13 starts, and he is good enough to handle this level of racing.

The five-year-old son of Divine Prophet ran second at Gawler last time out, and slight improvement is enough to beat this field.

The $6 is a fair price from bookmakers.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 9. (17:12) Beverley & Trevor Curtis Handicap (1200m)

#3 – Truly Elsa @ $13.00

We’re snapping up the double-figure odds for Truly Elsa, who was too quick for them at Gawler last time out.

The four-year-old mare by Frosted owns two wins and two placings from six starts at Murray Bridge, so she’s becoming a course specialist.

The odds are well worth taking in an even field.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 10. (17:54) Lloyd Cromwell Memorial Handicap (1600m)

#8 – Hysterical Lady @ $3.90

Looking to get back to winning form is Hysterical Lady, who won at Morphettville fresh up before placing last time out.

The four-year-old mare gets all favours off an inside draw and with 1.5kg off her back, so there are no excuses for Saturday’s race.

The $3.90 could firm on race day.

Stake: 1.5 Units
