Murwillumbah racing tips
—
Race 1. (13:05) Adventure Tourism BM58 (1550m)
#5 – Golden Copper @ $3.50
Looking to win her third consecutive race is Golden Copper, who won at Grafton before scoring at Coffs Harbour.
The six-year-old mare by No Nay Never has yet to race at Murwillumbah, but it’s a track she should find suitable, especially with a 2kg claimer riding.
Take the odds available before she shortens.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 2. (13:40) Lotza Signs Ballina Cup Prelude (1550m)
#3 – Master Copy @ $3.20
Looking to bounce back after running poorly at Ipswich in May is Master Copy, and we’re hoping the spell has done him some good.
His fresh up form isn’t spectacular, but he has the class edge over this field and the early betting moves are a good sign.
We’re happy to take the risk and take the odds.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 3. (14:15) Happy Birthday Ashley Gray Maiden (1550m)
#2 – Miss Dynamo @ $2.45
Miss Dynamo has attracted attention in betting markets following a satisfactory opening preparation.
The Billy Healey-trained mare ran second at Eagle Farm behind Huracanevo before placing behind Beauer at Grafton.
Her recent trial form suggests she’ll be tough to handle at the short odds.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 4. (14:50) Joe Booth Transport Maiden (1100m)
#11 – Deuterium @ $3.70
Deuterium is on debut for Matthew Dunn and the money has come, which is an excellent form guide for a runner from this stable.
The three-year-old filly by Headwater has been solid at the trials without being asked for much, and one of those trials came at the track.
They money is coming, so it could pay to jump on.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 5. (15:30) The Woodsie Special BM66 (2020m)
#1 – Second Sun @ $2.05
Looking to score consecutive wins is Second Sun, who was too good for them at Sunshine Coast by 1.8 lengths.
The son of The Autumn Sun has been right around the mark throughout his career, including two wins and four placings from seven starts.
61.5kg is a big weight but he’s the class act.
Stake: 3.5 Units
Race 6. (16:10) Viva Racing Maiden (1200m)
#3 – Flying Astern @ $6.00
The four-year-old son of Astern wasn’t far away during his first preparation, including running second at Beaumont.
He comes into this with a handy trial placing, which should have him ready to go, and this race is there for the taking.
We expect a nice effort at each-way odds.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 7. (16:50) Southern Autos Tweed Coast Classic (1200m)
#8 – Worthy Essgee @ $7.50
We’re backing Worthy Essgee to score back-to-back wins after winning at Murwillumbah last time out.
The five-year-old gelding by Worthy Cause showed a good turn-of-foot to beat Red Red Wine, and punters get better odds for this runner.
He’s a logical bet in a similar race.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 8. (17:30) Northern Rivers Property Group C1 (1200m)
#7 – Their Finest Hour @ $4.50
Their Finest Hour won fresh up at Coffs Harbour and he has every chance to make it back-to-back wins this preparation.
The three-year-old son of Brave Smash won at $1.75 odds, so getting $4.50 for the favourite is a price punters should take.
He should be right in the thick of the finish.
Stake: 2 Units
