We have expert betting tips for racing in New Zealand on Saturday, which features racing from Te Rapa and Riccarton.
Punters get good value odds for the two Kiwi meetings, and we have betting tips for the early races on the card.
Te Rapa Racing Tips
Ortem Legacy should be better with two runs under her belt this preparation, and being a past winner at Te Rapa helps.
The five-year-old mare owns two wins from 14 starts, and although she doesn’t win often, there isn’t much depth to this field.
The inside draw helps, so include her in picks.
Stake: 1 Unit
Single Red has been running against some of the best age-group types in NZ, including running third in the New Zealand Oaks.
The three-year-old filly has class on her side, and although dropping to 1600m could make it tough, she could be a better miler than stayer.
The $2.30 odds should be snapped up on race day.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Looking to improve on back-to-back second placings is Perfect Chaos, who ran close behind a nice type at Pukekohe last time out.
The two-year-old filly by Hello Youmzain will need some luck from a wide barrier, but she has good natural speed to burn.
The odds are fair in what should be an even contest.
Stake: 1 Unit
Gospodin has enough experience to handle this field, and he owns three wins and six placings at Te Rapa.
The eight-year-old is fitter for two runs back from a spell, and getting the inside draw should be enough to take him close.
He should settle handy and give punters a good sight.
Stake: 1 Unit
Riccarton Racing Tips
Punters get each-way odds for Henry Thomas, who is already a three-time winner this preparation.
The five-year-old son of Ocean Park won at Riccarton last time out over 2600m, so this distance is right up his alley.
Punters should expect something similar on Saturday.
Stake: 1 Unit
The Arctic Monkey showed good speed to win on debut in heavy conditions, and getting back on a heavy surface helps his chances.
He followed it up with a handy fifth at Wingatui, which wasn’t a bad run, so his confidence levels should be where they need to be.
Barrier 14 isn’t a worry over this distance, so take the each-way odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Seeking back-to-back wins is Mi Bella, who was too good for them at Riccarton last time out.
The five-year-old mare by Per Incanto has yet to finish worse than second at the track and getting in with 55kg on her back is ideal.
Her odds have shortened, so take the current odds.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Iron Hawk could be a nice type in the making after winning his last two at Riccarton, and his 2.8-length win last start was impressive.
The four-year-old gelding by Written Tycoon owns four wins from 14 starts, and he hasn’t finished further back than second at the track.
Punters should expect another top effort.
Stake: 2 Units
