New Zealand horse racing tips

Te Rapa

Race 2. (9:25) Stewart Browne Memorial Hurdle (3200m)

#10 – Rocking Good Time @ $2.80 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Rocking Good Time showed good improvement last time out when running second at Rotorua.

The eight-year-old gelding is only a three-time winner from 47 starts but he enjoys racing in these conditions and it’s not an overly strong field.

Most of the early money has come for the favourite.

Race 3. (10:00) Property Brokers 3YO (1400m)

#1 – Turn the Ace @ $3.40 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Turn the Ace comes off two wins from his last three starts and we think he could add another win to his record.

The three-year-old son of Turn Me Loose scored by 1.5 lengths last time out and he’s a two-time winner at Te Rapa.

Having Opie Bosson in the saddle helps and the odds are generous.

Race 5. (11:10) Woods Contracting Steeplechase (3900m)

#4 – Raucous @ $2 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

The eight-year-old gelding is another last-start winner at Rotorua and he could be a nice type in the making.

He scored by 4.8 lengths against a similar field and there’s no reason why he couldn’t double down on the punishment.

Punters get $2 and that’s a fair price.

Race 6. (11:45) Courtesy Ford Ryder Stakes (1200m)

#2 – Winexpress @ $3.80 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

The O’Sullivan/Scott-trained colt broke through for a maiden win at Avondale two back and it came by 3.3 lengths.

He followed it up with a two-length third placing and we’re not surprised by the weight of money coming for the favourite.

We expect him to rise through the grades and winning the Ryder Stakes would be a big step.

Race 8. (12:54) Taumarunui RSA Gold Cup (2200m)

#3 – Hit the Road Jack @ $4 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Hit the Road Jack comes off a second placing at Te Rapa and he’s good enough to go one better on Saturday.

The Phelan-trained five-year-old wasn’t far behind River Run and he drops in weight to 53.5kg, which is a light weight for this race.

Punters get each-way odds and the $4 could firm.

Race 10. (14:04) Bob & Colleen Donaldson Memorial Handicap (1400m)

#1 – Cherry Lane @ $9 – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Cherry Lane needed two runs back from a spell and the 10-time winner could get back to her best.

The seven-year-old mare is a three-time winner at Te Rapa and she loves racing in wet conditions, including four wins in heavy and six wins on soft tracks.

Punters get value odds and she has every chance off the inside draw.

Race 11. (14:39) Woods Contracting BM65 (1400m)

#2 – Inca Warrior – Bet @ Ladbrokes

Inca Warrior is knocking on the door after three consecutive placings and it’s only a matter of time before he breaks through for another win.

The seven-year-old son of Per Incanto is only a four-time winner from 49 starts, but his best form comes in wet conditions.

Getting 3kg off his back is ideal and he should be paying each-way odds with bookmakers.
