The five-year-old owned one win on the flat, and he should be better with two runs under his belt this preparation.

We’re going with another favourite to start the day with Fourty Eight, who scored at Hawera by five lengths last start.

The talented jumper owns five wins and five placings from 17 starts overall, and he has more flat speed than most in this hurdle.

Race 3. (10:36) Direct Fats & Oils 2YO (1100m)

The O’Sullivan/Scott stable is firing this season, and Kusada Rush could win on debut for the stable.

The two-year-old colt by Xtravagant hasn’t been too far away at the trials, including a win at Ellerslie, so that’s a good betting guide.

The 10-year-old owns seven wins from 15 starts over the jumps, and he’s a three-time winner at Te Rapa, which bodes well.

The two-year-old filly by Circus Maximus looked good when scoring an easy trial win, and she’s bred to be better than most at this level.

We expect some sizable bets to come her way.
