We have expert betting tips for racing in New Zealand on Saturday, which features racing from Te Rapa and Wanganui.
Punters get good value odds for the two Kiwi meetings, and we have betting tips for the early races on the card.
Te Rapa Racing Tips
It’s a wide-open affair in the opening race and Go Joanna is a value bet at double-figure odds.
The three-year-old filly is fitter for two runs back from a spell, including a third placing at Pukekohe, which is a good form guide.
We expect her to be right in the finish, so take the odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Wexford Stables has been having a good run with their debut runners this season, and Lumbridge Castle could add to it.
The three-year-old colt by Ardrossan is bred to show early speed, and his trial win at Taupo should be a good guide.
His opening odds have been taken, so include him at $5.50.
Stake: 1 Unit
Looking for back-to-back wins is General Menari, who showed some class to win at Te Rapa last time out.
The three-year-old son of Menari owns two wins and three placings from six starts, so he hasn’t put a foot wrong in his career.
It’s an open field, so look for him to take advantage and win.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Morning Cocoa has been a tough watch for punters this season, but we’re giving her one last chance to show something.
The four-year-old mare looked like she had turned the corner when winning fresh up, but she has found a way to lose in three runs since.
She needs things to go her way, but at $5.50, we’re including her as an each-way prospect.
Stake: 1 Unit
Wanganui Racing Tips
Into the Circle has been close to breaking through this preparation after posting placings at Waverley and Hawera, and this race should map well for her.
The four-year-old daughter of Ocean Park gets all favours with 2kg coming off her back from the in-form Toni Davies, which is a big help.
That should be enough to see her break maidens on Saturday.
Stake: 2 Units
Will wasn’t far away on debut when placing at Wanganui and having experience on the track adds to his appeal.
The four-year-old was only a length behind the winner, and he didn’t get all favours in the run, so he could have easily won.
Barrier 13 isn’t ideal, but he has a senior rider on board, which could make the difference.
Stake: 1 Unit
Circus Dancer has class on her side with three wins from six starts, including last time out at Rotorua.
The three-year-old filly won by a nose against a quality field and coming to Wanganui should only help her chances of winning again.
Barrier two with Matt Cameron riding is ideal, so take the odds.
Stake: 2 Units
Flyhalf owns four placings from five starts, and she doesn’t need to improve much to handle this field.
The three-year-old daughter of Flying Artie ran third at Ellerslie last time out, and she’s another filly coming south with upside.
A repeat of that effort should be enough to beat this field.
Stake: 2 Units
