Tauranga racing tips
—
Race 1. (10:25) Snow Williams & Arun Mehan Maiden (1600m)
#1 – Mohi Place @ $6.00
Mohi Place comes off consecutive placings at Tauranga and Matamata, which are good form guides for this race.
The five-year-old is long overdue a win after 11 starts for four placings, and getting barrier two adds to his appeal.
The each-way odds are worth snapping up in the opener.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 2. (11:00) Craigs Investment Partners BM65 (1400m)
#1 – Perfect Dividends @ $2.70
Money has come for Perfect Dividends, who looks to cap off three consecutive second placings with a victory.
The Vance-trained gelding showed good speed when placing at Ellerslie behind Miss Rockette before placing in two runs at Matamata.
Getting the inside draw with Sam Spratt riding adds to our confidence levels.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 3. (11:37) Stu Cundy Bayleys BM75 (1400m)
#2 – You Say D’orsay @ $4.20
Toughness is with You Say D’orsay, who is never too far away from the prize in tough fields.
The four-year-old son of Under the Louvre owns three wins and four placings from 11 starts, and he comes off a fourth behind Penman, who ran in the NZB Kiwi.
He’ll stalk the leaders and show a good kick in the straight.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 4. (14:10) J Swap Contractors 3YO (1200m)
#6 – Love Poem @ $2.45
Class is with Love Poem, who ran behind Alabama Lass, Savaglee, and Captured by Love last campaign.
Group 1 form stacks up very well in this race and the three-year-old filly has good form over 1200m, so kicking off at this distance is fine.
We expect her to put a couple of lengths on this field.
Stake: 3.5 Units

Wanganui racing tips
—
Race 1. (10:45) Wanganui Insurance Brokers 2YO (1200m)
#4 – Cease and Desist @ $3.90
Te Akau dominates age-group racing and Cease and Desist could win on debut for the orange army.
The two-year-old colt by Zoustar has had two trials for a win and placing, and he’s a well-related type with plenty of upside.
The inside draw is ideal and he should be right in the thick of the finish.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 2. (11:18) Wanganui Greyhound Racing Maiden (1340m)
#1 – Cut Loose @ $2.70
Improving with every run is Cut Loose, who ran fourth on debut at Otaki before finishing second at Wanganui.
The four-year-old son of Derryn was a short margin behind the winner last start and we expect that form to stack up nicely.
After opening at $3, strong money has come for him.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 3. (11:51) Wanganui Racehorse Owners Handicap (1340m)
#2 – Amend @ $2.90
Amend showed them a clean pair of heels to win last Saturday and we expect a repeat effort this week.
The five-year-old won by two lengths against a tidy field and he takes bad luck out of the equation, so he’s a good runner to back.
He could firm into favouritism on race day.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 4. (12:24) Wanganui Steelformers 3YO (1600m)
#1 – Coulthard @ $3.60
Coulthard scored by three lengths last time out at Waverley and we’re backing him to win two on the bounce.
Named after a speedster, the son of Redwood has enjoyed the rise in distance, and his breeding suggests he’ll enjoy even further.
After opening at $4.60, he has been well-backed to score and that’s a good sign.
Stake: 2 Units
