Newcastle racing tips

Race 1. (13:50) Davali Thoroughbreds Maiden (1200m)

#7 – Willingham @ $2.80

Willingham has been all around the mark so far, including a third placing on debut at Geelong before coming to New South Wales.

The Waterhouse/Bott-trained gelding wasn’t too far away when running fourth at Nowra last start, which is a good form guide.

$2.80 is a fair price for a runner with promise.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (14:25) Horsepower Feeds & Supplements Maiden (1350m)

#7 – Asilah @ $4.50

Looking to win on debut is Asilah, who has had six trials for a win and two placings, and she’s educated by Chris Waller.

The three-year-old filly comes off a trial placing at Rosehill, and with those trials under her belt, she should be ready to fire.

Money has come throughout the week, which bodes well.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (15:05) The Adviser Collective Maiden (1150m)

#1 – Aeternum @ $3.40

Aeternum is nearing a win after consecutive placings to start his career, and we thought he would be at shorter odds to win.

The three-year-old colt by Tassort placed at Newcastle and Gosford, and this race isn’t any stronger than what he’s already faced.

Barrier two is ideal, so he should get all favours.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 4. (15:40) NZB 100 Years Karaka C1 (1150m)

#6 – Ferinzo @ $4.80

Punters get each-way odds for Ferinzo, who scored a win at Grafton last preparation before spelling.

The four-year-old son of Cosmic Force comes off a trial win at Wyong by 2.8 lengths, so he looks ready to make an impression.

His odds have shortened, so include him at the each-way price.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (16:20) Spartan Race Central Coast C1 (1250m)

#7 – Chicalote @ $27.00

Generous odds are with Chicalote, who comes off a second placing at Gosford, and there’s nothing wrong with that form.

The Mick Attard-trained gelding is taking his time to post another win, but there isn’t much to beat in this field.

We’re happy to take the $27 odds as a value bet.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (16:55) Highlander Central Coast BM64 (1350m)

#2 – Justice Warrior @ $3.50

Gunning for consecutive wins is Justice Warrior, who was too quick for them at Wyong last time out.

The four-year-old son of Justify owns two wins and 10 placings from 16 starts, so he has been a consistent type throughout his career.

3kg comes off his back to help with the weight.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 7. (17:35) The Prince of Merewether BM64 (1350m)

#6 – Siebert @ $3.20

Siebert comes off wins at Beaumont and Gosford, and she should be tough to beat against this level of opposition.

The three-year-old filly by Capitalist scored a win over Crimson Wings last start, which should be a good form guide at this level.

Take the odds before late money comes her way.

Stake: 2 Units
