We have expert betting tips for the card this Wednesday at Newcastle that features seven quality betting races.
There are lovely betting fields at Newcastle and we have our best value bets available.
Newcastle horse racing tips & form
Race 1. (14:20) Charlestown Square Maiden Plate (900m)
#1 – Barney Rabble @ $2.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The three-year-old gelding went close at Coffs Harbour last start and he’s good enough to handle the rise in class.
He looked good on debut when running third at Grafton and we think he’ll be better on a dry surface at Newcastle.
Barrier 11 over this distance is the only worry, but follow betting moves.
Race 2. (14:55) OAS Technology Maiden Plate (1250m)
#7 – Adulting @ $1.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Adulting finished fifth on debut in heavy track conditions, but her two trial efforts have been good since.
The four-year-old mare by Contributer comes off two trial placings at Rosehill and that holds her in good stead for this contest.
Getting the inside draw is ideal and the $1.80 might not last long. We expect her odds to firm to around $1.60 come start time.
Race 3. (15:30) Reward Hospitality Maiden (1400m)
#12 – Nullify @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Nullify showed serious improvement when running second at Wyong last start and she could be heading in the right direction.
The Snowden-trained three-year-old was only 1.3 lengths behind the winner after showing nothing from her first four starts, so we like the progression.
She’s in good hands and after opening at $4.40, she has been well-supported to get the job done.
Race 4. (16:05) NHN Group Maiden (1400m)
#1 – Celtic Harp @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Celtic Harp hasn’t put his best foot forward from four runs, but the Waller-trained gelding could show quick improvement.
The three-year-old son of No Nay Never finished only 2.7 lengths behind the winner at Warwick Farm last start, which is a good betting guide.
Punters get each-way odds and he’s worth the risk.
Race 5. (16:40) Newmarket Day March BM68 (1300m)
#4 – Don’tforgetmonica @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Cameron Crockett lines up the five-year-old mare who always runs a good race for punters.
The daughter of Monaco Consul owns three wins and four placings from 12 starts, so she has been consistent and worth following.
She is speedy and well worth entertaining at the odds. Bookmakers opened her at $4.60 before drifting to $5, but there has been a touch of betting support lately, which is a good sign.
Race 6. (17:15) Karaka Online Catalogue BM64 (1500m)
#4 – Toomai @ $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Toomai owns two wins from her last four starts, including one at Newcastle. She got back to her best form last time out at Muswellbrook, so she’s confident.
The Kris Lees-trained daughter of Shooting to Win gets a valuable 3kg claimer in the saddle and she’s unbeaten at the distance, so statistics are in her favour.
We’re happy with the $5 available with bookmakers and getting barrier three should be enough to see her run close.
Race 7. (17:50) Tab Long May We Play BM64 (1500m)
#1 – Carlisle Bay @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The four-year-old gelding drops in grade after running in BM78 grade last start, so that’s a big positive.
He is a son of Smart Missile who won two back at Scone and we loved his effort last start, so the odds are appealing.
We thought bookmakers would have him around the $4.50 mark, so take the $6 available before it drops.
