Northerly Stakes Tips for Trifecta
Punters should have five runners on their ticket for the Northerly Stakes trifecta. We recommend taking a boxed percentage trifecta. Spend what you want, and the payouts can be massive.
- Attrition
- Storyville
- Zipaway
- Light Infantry Man
- Super Smink

Northerly Stakes First-Four Tips
We have included six runners for our Northerly Stakes first-four. Boxing all six selections for a percentage can still result in a huge payout, and you spend what you want.

- Zipaway
- Light Infantry Man
- Super Smink
- Numerian

Northerly Stakes Form Guide & Tips
(1) Numerian ($21.00)
He’s not always the easiest runner to follow but he’s good enough to figure in the finish at a price.
We priced him around $15.00, so we’re prepared to include him in first four picks.
(2) Attrition (Best Bet – $4.20)
A good winner at Rosehill two back before finishing behind Pericles last time out, which is a good form guide.
It’s a very even Group 1 field, but we would be surprised if he wasn’t fighting out the finish at each-way odds.
(3) Bustler ($31.00)
He hasn’t come up this season and it’s disappointing to see. He showed good early form but his best days could be behind him.
(4) Casino Seventeen ($27.00)
Liked its win fresh up but he didn’t show enough last time out to warrant attention at this level.
(5) Light Infantry Man ($8.50)
Favourite to win the Railway but it was a forgive run. Never got clear and it could bounce back in fine style at better odds.
Too good to overlook, so take the value available.
(6) Marocchino ($81.00)
Yet to show anything this preparation and we don’t see that changing, hence the massive odds.
(7) Democracy Manifest ($6.50)
He relies on luck after getting back in the run and storming home. Not an easy tactic at this track, but it could finish off best.
Too good to leave out and it has been respected in betting markets.
(8) Let’s Galahvant ($31.00)
Better for three runs this prep but none of them are good enough to compete at Group 1 level on Saturday.
(9) Mojo Rhythm ($71.00)
Needs to get back to his best form, which came when winning two starts back. Didn’t fire last start and this isn’t any easier.
(10) River Rubicon ($151.00)
Big odds and rightfully so. He’ll be run off his feet early and he won’t keep up.
(11) Currimundi ($151.00)
Another runner paying triple-figure odds and rightfully so. Arguably doesn’t deserve to be in the field, but connections are taking their chances.
(12) Zipaway (Best Roughie – $20.00)
Disappointing on face value in the Railway but it wasn’t a bad effort. 2.3 lengths behind the winner and it’s paying better odds than expected.
Worth including at the price.
(13) Admiration Express ($126.00)
Form earlier this prep was solid but it came against inferior opposition. Can’t have her against this quality of field.
(14) Super Smink ($7.50)
A nice local mare that owns five wins and eight placings from 17 starts. Third in the Railway Stakes and that form is good for this.
She is being included in trifecta and first four picks.
(15) Socks Nation ($12.00)
Radio listeners are hoping the actual Socks Nation can win this time around. Sat on the pace and gave up, and although she’s a nice type, that was a concerning run.
We’re leaving her out this time around.
(16) Storyville (Best Each Way – $4.40)
Gets in with 50kg and William Pike in the saddle. Facing her toughest test by some margin, but she clearly has ability.
She could be a nice type for the future and she only needs to get off the inside and rattle home.
(17) Russian to the Bar ($151.00)
Unlikely to threaten at the odds.
(18) Flower of Gold ($34.00)
Solid enough form but we don’t think she’s ready to win at this level.
