Before the big day of racing at Flemington on Saturday, Cranbourne hosts a good night racing card on Friday night.
We have tips for all eight races on the card, which features some handy types at the provincial level.
Cranbourne free tips & form
Race 1. (18:30) Ascend Trophies BM64 (1000m)
#3 – Tsushima – BET NOW
The three-year-old filly was a narrow winner on debut at Yarra Valley and she could improve with that run.
Trained by the Ellerton/Zahra combination, the daughter of Kuroshio defied the odds on debut when winning at $8.50 and we’re expecting her to start at much shorter odds in this.
Drawn to use the rail to her advantage so stick with her here.
Race 2. (19:00) Goldners Horse Transport Maiden (1400m)
#1 – Agent Fiscale – BET NOW
Danny O’Brien lines up the three-year-old gelding which finished a half-length behind the winner on debut and he should have matured nicely with the run.
The son of Dreamscape has staying lines throughout his breeding and with an extra 100m to the distance here, he should be hitting the line with purpose.
This is a tricky and small field but he looks to have plenty of upside.
Race 3. (19:30) Highview Accounting Maiden (1500m)
#7 – Beauty Option – BET NOW
Graeme Begg lines up Beauty Option, which improved nicely to run second last start at Pakenham and the form out of that race should stack up nicely.
She’s a well-bred filly by Redoute’s Choice which will likely be looking to win a race to qualify for Hong Kong. That win could come here and she’s going to get every chance from a good barrier.
Bookmakers should keep her safe in the market and she looks tough to beat.
Race 4. (20:00) Mypunter BM64 (2580m)
#3 – Penthouse Playboy – BET NOW
Tough stayer which is bred to see out these distances. Darren Weir trains the five-year-old by Pentire, which didn’t fire last start but his form prior was better.
He scored consecutive wins at Moe and Bendigo before making the rise up to this grade, where he has struggled, but we’re allowing him another chance.
The dam sire is by Zabeel and there’s staying lines throughout.
Race 5. (20:30) Frankston Sand Soil BM64 (1600m)
#1 – Boltoutoftheblue – BET NOW
In good form this season with four consecutive placings. He might not have won in recent starts but he’s knocking on the door and his run for second at Geelong has been franked.
That came behind Our Sea Goddess in a strong field and although he’s carrying 60kg in this, he has the fitness under his belt and should go close once again.
There’s not much winning form in this so the lack of wins on his record isn’t a concern.
Race 6. (21:00) Mercedez Benz BM78 (1000m)
#8 – Sweet Snitty – BET NOW
Has had only three starts but the lightly-tried four-year-old has looked good throughout his career.
The son of Snitzel was a winner at Murray Bridge on debut before running sixth at Morphettville when rising in class. That field was too strong for him and he found form immediately at Sale last start.
That form reads well for this and he should prove tough to get past.
Race 7. (21:30) Tab Multiplier BM78 (1400m)
#10 – Tea For Choux – BET NOW
Showed good consistency when winning three of her six starts last campaign and she tends to find form quickly.
The five-year-old mare by New Zealand Derby winner Jimmy Choux has won and placed from two fresh-up starts and she has the same record on this track.
That’s strong form for this grade and we’re expecting a positive return from a spell.
Race 8. (22:00) Procon Developments BM64 (1300m)
#1 – Honourable Mention – BET NOW
Two wins from three starts and he did the job with ease last time out at Warrnambool when scoring by four lengths.
The Henry Dwyer-trained runner has a trial placing on this track which suits and he also looked good winning on debut.
Tough field here and he carries weight but we wouldn’t be leaving him out of calculations at the odds.
