Oakbank horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:57) Duttons Maiden (1100m)
#12 – Pure Bliss @ $3.80
Pure Bliss has been backed and beaten twice, but she hasn’t been too far away.
She owns two placings from as many starts, and the three-year-old filly by Star Turn might have needed the fitness.
Getting the inside draw with a light weight is ideal.
Race 2. (13:32) Stateliner Coaches BM66 (1050m)
#2 – Lovely Lookin’ @ $2.20
Lovely Lookin’ got back to her best form at Morphettville, and she’s worth following.
The three-year-old filly by American Pharoah owns three wins from six starts, and this level of racing looks right up her alley.
Take the short odds for the favourite.
Race 3. (14:07) Magain The Shillabeer Handicap (1400m)
#3 – Bolted In @ $4.40
Value is with Bolted In, who could get back to his best form on Saturday at Oakbank.
The three-year-old is a two-time winner from nine starts and getting in with 55.5kg on his back is a bonus.
After opening at $5, money has come for him strongly.
Race 4. (14:42) Emmett’s Country Cup BM72 (1900m)
#1 – Shiny Rock @ $3.10
Seeking three consecutive wins is Shiny Rock, who won at Lock and Broken Hill.
It’s solid form for this level of racing, and he’s unbeaten in all four starts over this distance, which is an excellent statistic.
Getting 3kg off his back offsets the big weight.
Race 5. (15:17) Klose’s Supermarket Queen of the Hills (1400m)
#5 – Sixteen Reasons @ $2.35
Sixteen Reasons is a model of consistency with three wins and five placings from 13 starts.
The four-year-old mare by Jukebox gets in with only 54kg on her back, and that would be the winning of the race.
Her odds could firm throughout the week.
Race 6. (15:52) Coopers Brewery Onkaparinga Cup (2150m)
#2 – Yuri Royale @ $4.60
Yuri Royale owns two wins from his last three starts, which is the best form for this race.
The six-year-old son of Good Journey has yet to race at Oakbank, but he’s an eight-time winner with class on his side.
Getting each-way odds is great, so take the value.
Race 7. (16:27) Simon Tolley The Vintage (1400m)
#7 – Pegasi @ $8.00
Pegasi owns four third placings already this campaign, and he’s good enough to improve on those efforts.
He comes off a third placing at Morphettville before being primed with a trial effort at Oakbank. Having that experience on the track should help.
He gets the inside draw with 54kg, so include him in picks.
Race 8. (17:07) Harcourts Hills Railway Stakes (1100m)
#1 – Taunting @ $5.50
Class is with Taunting, who owns eight wins and four placings from just 19 career starts.
The five-year-old son of Brazen Beau won his only start at Oakbank, so having experience on the tricky circuit is ideal.
Carrying 58kg isn’t easy, but his class takes him close.
Race 9. (17:49) Ray White Real Estate Handicap (1050m)
#13 – Skinder @ $3.10
Skinder loves racing at Oakbank with three starts for two wins and a second placing.
The talented four-year-old mare won as a $1.70 favourite last start but winning a trial on the track, so that form is ideal.
Her odds are better than expected.
