Oakleigh Plate Form Guide & Tips
Flamberge (Best Each Way – $16) – BET NOW
It’s tough to overlook a winner of 11 races and over $1.7 million in earnings.
The Group 1 winner looked good when running second behind Super Cash last start and anything close to that effort from a good barrier should see him going close again.
He likes to strike when punters overlook his chances.
Russian Revolution (Best Bet – $4.80) – BET NOW
Stud duties beckon for Russian Revolution, but there’s still some business to take care of on the track first.
The impressive horse for Peter and Paul Snowden was a big winner at Moonee Valley two starts back before failing behind She Will Reign, but his trial efforts have been good.
He won by 5.8 lengths at the Randwick trials in preparation for this and that was some piece of work.
He looks ready and the odds on offer are appealing.
Sheidel ($20) – BET NOW
Sheidel owns some early pace so the barrier draw shouldn’t be an issue, but she showed little last campaign and not having had a trial to prepare is a concern.
She might be past her best and we’re willing to overlook her chances.
Hellbent ($14) – BET NOW
More than capable on his day, despite having not won since 2016.
The Darren Weir-trained sprinter finished well enough behind Super Cash last start, but we would need $24 and not $14 to think about including him in selections.
Illustrious Lad (Best Roughie – $18) – BET NOW
The Peter Gelagotis-trained runner is another which hasn’t won for a while now, but the talent is there.
A son of I Am Invincible, Illustrious Lad has won nine of his 34 starts and he should get every chance to land on the speed from barrier three.
Many of the fancied chances have drawn wide and he’s paying great odds considering the dream run he’s going to receive.
Fuhryk ($14) – BET NOW
The Lindsay Park-trained runner is always a chance in these races and she wasn’t far behind Viddora at Ascot last start.
That came at Group 1 level and the form out of Perth shouldn’t be discounted.
She’s a chance here at nice odds.
Savanna Amour ($26) – BET NOW
Savanna Amour showed good ability last campaign in weaker fields and this might be a step too far.
The barrier draw is only going to make matters worse and we can’t have her in our selections.
Snitty Kitty ($9.50) – BET NOW
We are big fans of Snitty Kitty, but we’re not sure she’s ready to win at Group 1 level.
The Henry Dwyer-trained mare has won six of her 12 starts to date and she owns plenty of barrier speed, but she’ll need all of that from out wide in barrier 18.
Prussian Vixen ($51) – BET NOW
The five-year-old mare scored an impressive win at Caulfield last start, but not in this class.
She could run in the first half of the field, but that would be her best result.
Sword of Light ($61) – BET NOW
Sword of Light didn’t look good towards the end of last campaign and the $61 looks right here.
The weight helps and she’s likely to head forward, but maybe better suited to something a little easier.
Bons Away ($12) – BET NOW
The four-year-old gelding owns plenty of ability and he has yet to finish outside of the money fresh up.
Aaron Purcell lines up the talented sprinter which didn’t fire behind Rich Charm last year, but he could provide punters with some each way value.
Lady Esprit ($51) – BET NOW
Good win last time out but she won’t handle running at Group 1 level and she will find it tough from out wide in barrier 19.
Rock ‘N’ Gold ($51) – BET NOW
Twice a winner this campaign and you can’t take that away from him, but he will struggle to get close in this.
The light weight helps at 53.5kg and he is capable of an upset but this would be a big surprise result.
Palazzo Pubblico ($91) – BET NOW
Well past its best and the odds reflect that. Doesn’t look to have a winning hope.
Glenall ($26) – BET NOW
Glenall is a promising sprinter from the Les Bridge stables and he will enjoy carrying the light weight.
The four-year-old won well enough two back before running second to Egyptian Symbol last start. That form will need to improve to win here, but he’s not the worst chance at odds.
She Will Reign ($6.50) – BET NOW
A winner of six from eight starts, She Will Reign is class personified.
The Gary Portelli-trained three-year-old filly has won $3 million throughout her short career and although she has drawn barrier 17, she remains well-backed in the market.
That draw won’t make it easy for her, especially against the older horses. We would have liked to see $10 on offer because her current odds are too short.
Catchy ($9) – BET NOW
Catchy has plenty of potential and a light weight of 51.5kg.
Craig Williams rides the Blue Diamond Stakes winner and if she gets a spot in the field, she will give them a fright.
Booker ($8.50) – BET NOW
Another quality type which needs luck to get into the field.
Nice win last start and she could offer something at each way odds.
