Oakleigh Plate Form Guide & Tips
1. Zoutori ($11) Bet @ Sportsbet
A deadly runner fresh up with four wins from seven starts. He must always be respected and punters often get double-figure odds.
2. Dirty Work (Best Each Way – $9.50) Bet @ Sportsbet
An underrated type that owns five wins and five placings from 17 starts. He loves this distance and his past experiences at Caulfield read well.
He gets the inside draw and every chance to make his presence known.
3. Kemalpasa ($34) Bet @ Sportsbet
Beaten by Behemoth last start and we don’t think he has the best form lines for this race.
Yet to race at Caulfield and the lack of track experience won’t do him any good.
4. Standout ($17) Bet @ Sportsbet
Looked like a nice type early on but his form last campaign was a touch below his best.
He likes to sit close to the speed, so drawing barrier 15 could be too tough for him. Watch for any late betting moves with this runner.
5. Mizzy ($91) Bet @ Sportsbet
Capable of producing an upset but her recent form hasn’t been good enough to recommend.
Likely to push out to triple-figure odds.
6. Ancestry (Best Bet – $5.50) Bet @ Sportsbet
He rattled off four consecutive wins last campaign and he owns eight wins from 13 starts overall.
It’s tough to overlook his record and two of his three starts at Caulfield have resulted in wins. It’s an impressive statistic and punters get value odds.
53.5kg is ideal and he goes clearly on top.
7. Celebrity Queen ($8) Bet @ Sportsbet
A talented Perth-based runner that doesn’t know how to run a bad race. She has six wins and four second placings from 12 starts, so she needs to be included.
William Pike rides and she gets every chance from an inside barrier.
8. Bold Star ($23) Bet @ Sportsbet
Backed and beaten a few times lately and he is a touch too short in the betting for our liking. He will enjoy the light weight, but not on this occasion.
9. Brooklyn Hustle ($12) Bet @ Sportsbet
A two-time winner fresh up but we question if she is a genuine Group 1 type. Yet to fire at Caulfield and this could be too tough.
10. Garner ($17) Bet @ Sportsbet
A talented runner that is finding it hard to win. It will appreciate the light weight, but he needs room off an inside draw.
$17 is a value price and he could run into the money.
11. How Womantic ($51) Bet @ Sportsbet
Showed plenty of ability early on but those wins came against inferior opposition. Her recent form is only moderate and not good enough for Group 1 level.
12. Prophet’s Thumb ($26) Bet @ Sportsbet
A last-start winner that has a nice turn-of-foot on her day. However, she will likely struggle to beat this quality field.
Her odds are drifting and we’re not surprised.
13. Riding The Wave ($101) Bet @ Sportsbet
The former Kiwi has run well since arriving in Australia, but he has never looked like an Oakleigh Plate contender.
Consider in something easier.
14. Sword of Mercy ($51) Bet @ Sportsbet
Back-to-back wins to start the preparation and her form since has been solid. Needs a fair amount of luck to beat most of these runners.
15. Portland Sky (Best Roughie – $15) Bet @ Sportsbet
A three-year-old colt coming off an impressive win at Caulfield. He defeated some smart age-group types and dropping to 50kg is ideal.
He could be tough to beat from there and the form behind him last start has been franked.
16. Hanseatic ($16) Bet @ Sportsbet
The Blue Diamond favourite last year and he hasn’t quite bounced back from that. He likes this track and the weight helps, but we need to see more.
17. Ranting ($18) Bet @ Sportsbet
Impressive when winning two back but he didn’t follow it up. Good enough to beat this field, but he’s too risky.
18. Anders ($8) Bet @ Sportsbet
A speedy type that owns four wins over this distance. It could cause an upset, but the $8 is a touch too short.
