Oakleigh Plate Form Guide & Tips
1. Ball of Muscle ($26) Bet Now
He’s tough to beat on his day and he runs well in a fresh state. He has won four of his 13 fresh starts, which also includes six placings. Worth considering at the odds and it wouldn’t be a huge shock to win him winning.
2. Zoutori ($18) Bet Now
Almost went in as the best roughie and his fresh-up form reads well. He owns three wins from five starts and he has the ability to win at Group 1 level. Drawing barrier two helps and he shouldn’t be far away in the run to the line.
3. Bivouac (Best Bet – $2.80) Bet Now
The James Cummings-trained colt is full of ability and he usually comes out of the gate firing. He owns five wins from 11 starts and with only 55.5kg on his back, he is ideally placed.
It’s a good ride for Craig Williams and although the odds are on the shorter side, he should give punters a good run for their money.
4. Faatinah ($31) Bet Now
A six-time winner fresh up, Faatinah has to be respected on that statistic alone. He has ability on his day and punters are getting value odds. He could be worth having a small wager on.
5. Bons Away ($23) Bet Now
It’s tough to recommend Bons Away here based on his recent form. He did show ability earlier on in his career but he hasn’t been consistent enough of late.
Drawing barrier 12 won’t help his cause and we would want longer odds.
6. Crystal Dreamer ($51) Bet Now
Looked good when winning fresh up this preparation but that didn’t come at a high level and his form since has been only fair.
He is an 11-time winner from 31 starts, so he deserves respect and we’ve seen bigger upsets scored in the Oakleigh Plate.
7. Trope (Best Roughie – $12) Bet Now
Trope is classy at best and the four-year-old usually finds form quickly. He is coming off a campaign that included three runs for two second placings, which could be good enough for this race.
Carrying 52.5kg is going to give him every chance of taking this out.
8. All Too Royal ($23) Bet Now
A talented sprinter, All Too Royal has a big race win coming. The five-year-old won fresh up and has placed twice since. Those runs were good efforts and dropping down to 52kg is going to be a massive help.
He’s not without a chance and the odds are appealing.
9. Anjana ($51) Bet Now
Anjana has the ability to win at this level but drawing barrier 17 dented her chances significantly. She goes well fresh and gets only 52kg on her back, but she’ll need an awful amount of luck from out wide.
We’re prepared to wait with Anjana and look for a better betting opportunity.
10. Bold Star ($15) Bet Now
Consistency is key with Bold Star, which owns seven wins and five second placings from 18 starts. He has yet to finish worse than second in five starts this season, so the ability is there.
He’s a danger down in the weights and we wouldn’t put it past him.
11. Fine Dane ($151) Bet Now
The odds tell punters all they need to know. He’s not expected to win this race and going off his recent form, it’s unlikely that he will.
12. Halvorsen ($17) Bet Now
Shooting for his fourth consecutive win, Halverson could be a popular pick on race day. The son of Magnus has been showing a good turn-of-foot and his confidence should be sky high.
The drop in weight is ideal and we wouldn’t be shocked to see him winning this race.
13. Humma Humma ($26) Bet Now
There should be improvement to come from Humma Humma after she ran fifth at Caulfield last start. It was a solid run from the five-time winner and punters are getting good odds.
William Pike comes over from Perth for the ride and that’s a good sign.
14. Mystyko ($101) Bet Now
He looks a touch below this lot and the odds reflect that. Struggling to win races of late and winning at the highest level is not easy.
15. Pippie ($8.50) Bet Now
Strong money is coming for Pippie and rightfully so. She’s a quality type in the making, with four wins and two placings from eight starts. She has been primed for a return with a recent trial win at Cranbourne and she owns good tactical pace, which helps in these races.
16. Anaheed (Best Each Way – $5) Bet Now
Anaheed is coming off an impressive win at Caulfield where she defeated Bold Star by 1.3 lengths. She won’t get things as easy from barrier 15 but she owns good tactical pace and having Tim Clark riding is a positive.
Dropping down to 51kg makes her a must-include and punters are getting fair odds.
17. I Am Immortal ($51)
Drops to 50kg but he’s up against a strong field and drawing barrier 18 makes it tough.
18. Free of Debt ($26) Bet Now
Handy effort for second when resuming and it could add some spice to multiples. Capable of causing an upset on its day.
19. Vainstream ($201) Bet Now
Unlikely to run and the odds reflect that.
