Caulfield free tips & form
Race 1. (13:30) Ladbrokes Multiverse BM84 (2400m)
#5 – Steel Prince @ $2.65 – BET NOW
That was a nice win from Steel Prince at Mornington last time out and that form should stack up nicely at Caulfield.
The four-year-old gelding scored by 2.3 lengths and although this is his first start around the tricky Caulfield, he’s in career-best form and the confidence should be sky-high.
Carrying 55.5kg is another positive and he’s going great guns at present.
Race 2. (14:00) Drinkwise Plate BM70 (1600m)
#7 – Junipal @ $3.10 – BET NOW
There have been some nice three-year-old runners come through maiden races at Donald and Junipal looks to fit the bill nicely. He scored by an incredible 10 lengths over the mile last start and punters took notice.
He ran as a $1.36 chance on that occasion and the $3.10 is a surprise here. He does face a much harder field but given his good barrier draw of four and a nice weight, we thought he could touch an odds-on quote.
He still might so take the value on offer.
Race 3. (14:35) The Pegasus BM84 (1400m)
#7 – Fifty Stars @ $1.90 – BET NOW
Fifty Stars opened at $2 and we knew that price wouldn’t last long. Punters were always going to come for the talented Darren Weir-trained runner, which has won four of his five starts.
The well-bred son of Sea The Stars went unbeaten at his first four starts before resuming at Benalla when he finished second behind a smart field. That came in rating 78 grade and he makes the rise in class again, but he drops nicely in weight.
$1.90 is getting short and this field doesn’t lack ability but he could be a star.
Race 5. (15:45) Catanach’s Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m)
#1 – Written By @ $1.65 – BET NOW
Blue Diamond winner Written By is looking for more riches and he’s the clear-cut favourite to do so.
The Graeme Begg-trained colt by Written Tycoon is bred for speed and he has shown that by winning five of his six starts. The only failure came in the Golden Slipper when running fourth.
He was given a nice exhibition gallop last week and whilst there are some classy types in the six-horse field, he’s the best of the lot and the short odds are justified.
Race 7. (17:05) Ladbrokes Villiage Stakes (1200m)
#12 – Addictive Nature @ $3.20 – BET NOW
Darren Weir now trains the four-year-old which hasn’t been seen since running 11th in the Australian Guineas behind Grunt.
The son of Savabeel had a good career in Sydney but was often a touch luckless. His run for third behind Trapeze Artist at Rosehill was a good form indicator and there’s no doubting his ability to put this field away with ease.
The 54kg on his back is a great asset and punters should follow any positive betting moves.
Race 8. (17:45) Ladbrokes Odds Boost BM78 (2000m)
#3 – Lucky For All @ $2.50 – BET NOW
Questions remain whether Lucky For All has returned in the same order he was last season after two placings this preparation but we’re prepared to give him another chance.
The Weir-trained four-year-old ran greenly last time out at Caulfield behind Al Galayel, which raises some concern. The shorter distance might not have helped his chances but if he’s going to win here, he needs to settle better.
We’re banking that he does but don’t take a lower price than the $2.50.
Randwick free tips and form
Race 1. (13:15) Sydney Spring Racing (1300m)
#3 – Jen Rules @ $1.65 – BET NOW
A touch unlucky in defeat last time out, Jen Rules and her backers get a chance for redemption here.
The Snowden-trained three-year-old was a winner on debut at Canterbury before finishing third at Warwick Farm, but she raced wide throughout and didn’t get the run of the race.
This field lacks depth and she looks to have the best future out of this lot.
Race 4. (15:00) Farewell Encosta De Lago BM70 (1550m)
#10 – Ulusaba @ $4.60 – BET NOW
The Waterhouse/Bott-trained gelding has matured nicely this preparation after scoring a good win at Wyong last start by 3.5 lengths.
The son of Exceed And Excel has handled rain-affected tracks well with two starts for a win and a placing. That bodes well for this heavy track and carrying 54.5kg with good natural pace is a bonus.
Race 6. (16:15) The Agency Real Estate (1800m)
#2 – Girl Tuesday @ $1.65 – BET NOW
Unbeaten from three starts, Girl Tuesday looks to remain a perfect four-from-four at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
The well-bred mare by Street Cry x. Tuesday Joy, Girl Tuesday hasn’t been tested so far, which includes a 3.3-length romp last start at Rosehill.
Her wins have come in stylish fashion and although she carries 60kg for this, that hasn’t stopped her yet.
