It’s Manikato Stakes night and Moonee Valley hosts an eight-race meeting, including the Group 1 Manikato Stakes over 1200m.
There’s some quality action throughout the night and punters can also bet on the first Sydney night meeting of the season at Canterbury.
We have tips for the best races across the night.
Moonee Valley free tips & form
Race 1. (18:30) LUCRF Super Handicap (1000m)
#11 – Propelle @ $3 – BET NOW
The three-year-old was a superb 3.3-length winner at Sale last preparation before running fifth against a good field at Flemington.
The daughter of Smart Missile has been off the scene since June but she should return in fine order and she gets into the race with only 55kg on her back.
$3 is a good price.
Race 3. (19:30) Chandler Macleod Vobis (1500m)
#3 – Iconoclasm @ $2.25 – BET NOW
Iconoclasm knows how to win and the six-time winner looks tough to beat in the third race of the night.
The Darren Weir-trained four-year-old was a gutsy winner by 2.3 lengths at Caulfield last time out and that form is going to stack up nicely here.
He’s as tough as boots and although he has yet to win around The Valley, it’s only a matter of time and it could be here.
Race 4. (20:00) MSC Signs Handicap (2040m)
#4 – Waging War @ $3 – BET NOW
Punters have been burned by Waging War in all three starts this season but he’s knocking on the door and should find this more to his liking.
The five-year-old gelding finished 1.5 lengths behind Theanswerismyfriend three back before running behind Cliff’s Edge and Land of Plenty in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap.
Drawing barrier 11 isn’t going to help his chances here but he might head forward and be tough to hold out.
Race 6. (21:00) Sweeney Estate Agents Handicap (1200m)
#12 – Isaurian @ $3.20 – BET NOW
Narrowly beaten at Moonee Valley last time out and he will be better for the experience. Trained by James Cummings, the four-year-old was a winner prior at Sandown and maps well for this.
He’s only having his eighth career start, which could be seen as a negative, but he’s got plenty of pace and gets a light weight and a solid barrier of six.
Drifting in the betting but he should stay steady around this price.
Canterbury free tips and form
Race 1. (18:15) Fastlane Karting Maiden (1100m)
#1 – Chelsea Reign @ $5 – BET NOW
Same connections as The Everest winner Redzel and they can seemingly do nothing wrong.
The two-year-old filly finished second in her only trial and she ran a quick enough time of 44.86 for the 740m at Warwick Farm.
Always tough to line up the debutantes but she represents value.
Race 2. (18:45) Total Canteen Maiden (1100m)
#3 – Terminology @ $2.40 – BET NOW
Three-year-old filly Terminology suffered an injury in the Group 3 Magic Night Stakes last time in work and hasn’t raced since March, but she’s classy at best.
Prior to her injury, she finished third behind Cristobal at Rosehill and she has solid performances behind the likes of Jonker and Sunlight.
That form stacks up nicely for this.
Race 3. (19:15) Featherdale Maiden (1550m)
#4 – Stardome @ $2.50 – BET NOW
Chris Waller lines up the Savabeel colt which was costly on debut when well-backed at Warwick Farm, but he ran well when fourth last start.
He’s a nicely-bred type which should get a good run from barrier two and the field of six should see him slot into a nice position.
He has drifted from $2.35 to $2.50 but that shouldn’t worry punters.
Race 6. (20:45) Schweppes BM70 (1900m)
#5 – Semper Fidelis @ $4.40 – BET NOW
Another Waller-trained runner which has won only two from 11 starts, but she has placed in six races and there’s more improvement to come.
The well-bred mare by High Chaparral scored a win at Newcastle last start by a nose and although the winning margin wasn’t by a long way, it was a deserved win.
She gets the inside draw to work with and Tommy Berry might ride her more positively, which will work in her favour.
