Cox Plate Day is one of the better betting meetings of the year and it all goes down this Saturday at Moonee Valley.
We have our best bets from the Moonee Valley card, as well as our best bets from the supporting card at Randwick.

Race 3. (13:15) Powerflo Solution Stakes (1600m)
#2 – Savatiano @ $2.20 – BET NOW
That was a solid run from the James Cummings-trained mare last start when running second behind Invincibella and she maps well for this race.
Drawing barrier four around The Valley is a big positive and she’s going to be in the right part of the track at the right time. This is her first start at Moonee Valley, but she’s an adaptable type which should handle it.
Expecting plenty of money come race day.
Race 4. (13:50) Crockett Stakes (1200m)
#4 – Into The Abyss @ $5 – BET NOW
Her form line doesn’t flatter her here but Into The Abyss has potential and faces an easier field this time around.
The three-year-old filly finished fifth behind Sunlight (favourite for the Manikato Stakes) last start and her form prior included runs behind Seabrook, Fiesta and Sunlight again.
That’s better form than most of her opposition has to their record here and she’s paying a good price given the risk.
Race 5. (14:25) 1300 Australia Stakes (1200m)
#4 – Sunset Watch @ $4.40 – BET NOW
Winning form on this track is good form and Sunset Watch looked the goods when scoring by a half-length last time out.
He’s a three-time winner from five starts, which has speed to burn and although he has let punters down on two occasions, all three wins have come when he was paying $2.75 or lower with bookmakers.
That makes the $4.40 on offer here good value.
Race 6. (15:00) Aquis Farm Fillies’ Classic (1600m)
#2 – Fundamentalist @ $5 – BET NOW
Group 1 Caulfield Guineas form should stack up nicely here and the three-year-old filly went huge last time out.
Her run for second behind Amphitrite was top-level and given that her form leading into that race was below par, it was a good indication of what’s to come this spring.
She scored consecutive wins to open her campaign and although she has drawn awkwardly in barrier 11, she will likely try and land on the speed and give a good kick.
Tough race but she’s a value chance at the $5.
Race 7. (15:35) Schweppes Crystal Mile (1600m)
#9 – Siege of Quebec @ $3.60 – BET NOW
The son of Fastnet Rock exceeded expectations in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap when running third behind Land of Plenty and that form looks good for this.
The Waterhouse/Bott-trained four-year-old has been competing at the top level for some time now and he should find this level of opposition much easier.
He has drifted from $3.40 to $3.60 but we’re expecting his price to shorten on race day.
Race 10. (17:50) Drummond Golf Vase (2040m)
#13 – Verry Elleegant @ $3.40 – BET NOW
This former New Zealand runner showed Australia what she’s capable of when winning the Ethereal Stakes in fine style last start and more wins are in store.
Now with Darren Weir, the three-year-old filly over-raced during the run but still found a great turn-of-foot in the straight and although we thought she might head straight to the Oaks, punters get another chance to reap the benefits here.
$3.40 is overs.
Randwick free tips and form
Race 1. (12:55) 2019 Membership BM76 (1400m)
#1 – Nicco Lad @ $4.20 – BET NOW
Put them away with ease at Newcastle last start and he’s a type which can quicken off a slow tempo, which is likely in this small field.
He hasn’t yet shown the ability to win at this level, but the confidence will be up after that success and punters are getting a good price with bookmakers.
He’s two-from-two on a soft track and that bodes well.
Race 4. (14:40) Robrick Lodge Filante Handicap (1400m)
#3 – Sambro @ $3.20 – BET NOW
A touch disappointing last time out when seventh at Newcastle but he has class on his side and he could enjoy running against the small field.
Chris Waller lines up the four-year-old which scored consecutive wins earlier this year in the autumn and with four placings from five starts at Randwick, it’s about time he notched a win here.
Money is coming for the favourite but Sambro reflects better value.
Race 5. (15:15) Pinot Noir Rose BM94 (1800m)
#2 – Zourkhan @ $2.80 – BET NOW
Has come alive this campaign with back-to-back wins and he’s relishing the wet tracks that Sydney racing has been plagued with.
The Waller-trained stayer scored by 2.5 lengths two back at Rosehill before repeating the dose with a 1.3-length win on this track last start.
He’s loving the wet conditions and we’re expecting another top performance.
